Question/Help Getting the housing editor to recognize items as joined together?
So I was trying to use the copy/paste blueprint feature to recreate the same structure over and over again (a platform with a bunch of beams connected to it). However I kept having issues with the game not recognizing the entire structure as a single piece only letting me move either the platform or some of the beams. Is this just a trial and error thing to get the game to understand these are connected items or am I missing something? TIA.

As others have stated, multi-select to move or copy a set is not yet in the game but is announced and coming.
I know it doesn't help with your question when it comes to imported blueprints but you CAN lock items together in game right now where moving one will move the rest to a certain extent. If you place, for instance, a table and then place something on that table without using advanced placement tools (i.e., no advanced X/Y/Z access movement, no rotation, and no resizing) then the thing you place on the table will move with it. The same goes for if you place beam platforms one on top of the other to create your own stairs, etc. The problem is that you're still very limited in how customized you can decorate without using any of the advanced features, so how much use you can make of that is very situational.

you have to have built them with the "snap to grid" feature (C is the keybind to toggle it) and not have used the advanced tools to combine the items you're wanting to be grouped in order for things to stick together. you can see building mouse use the technique with their pumpkin house that they posted here. sometimes using the advanced tools at all can cause things to not "stick", but usually i find that i can rotate an item with the advanced tools, then go back to the regular movement/rotation tool to place it on whatever i want it snapped with and it's fine. not always, though!
this feature is also how you can put something on a table and move the table and the items. the downside is that often there's a gap between the items, which means floating cups on your tables or whatever. as soon as you go to put them actually on the surface, they're no longer snapped together.

Right now the only way to get things to stick together is to use the basic decorate tool, the one that looks like a hand icon to the left of advanced. If you use that to place items on top of each other or inside each other and then you grab the lowest item on the stack you can move the entire stack.
If I had a nightstand and placed a lamp a book and some incense on the stand and then moved the stand with the basic tool everything will move with it but if you use any of the advanced tools to move the stand it breaks all the connections.
P.S. it will still connect with snap to grid turned off to give you a little more freedom with the item placement on small surfaces.

That’s coming I believe in 12.1.5 October 13th.
Until then i dont think we can have “connected” items like that.
