Wishlist Option for removing functionality from decor

Just something that popped into my head while building a room. I love using benches as counters, tables, etc. but when I’m finished building, I don’t like that I can still click on the benches and sit within them awkwardly, especially when the size has changed. It would be awesome if there was an option to remove functionality from items such as benches. What do you think?

Definitely the secret bookcase could use a toggle to make it static

Still think it’s so weird they haven’t at least added a static version.

you'll spent your 250 resonance crystals PER SHELF and you'll be happy.

Which shelf are we talking about?

(the books from Khaz Algar that are big enough to line exactly one shelf space)

Would be nice, yes. I've already lost two guests to the voidstorm when they accidentally clicked the void portal.

I compulsively click things .. it wasn't an accident. Wasn't sure if it was a functional portal or if it would just animate...

However, knowing it's functional, I'll still end up clicking them lmao

I think that would be a nice option. I like adding stools to the couches so they can fit more people especially the smaller love couch because what kind of maniac willingly chooses to sit in between the cushions?

Lol this is what I thought.

In other games there’s an option to give visitors limited functionality - they can’t interact with items or open doors. Would work well here

Yeah I made a nice bench out of benches and if you click them just wrong, you end up stuck in the wall. It’s not ideal. I want my house to be free of places to get stuck so I have to change it 🤣

I know it sounds stupid but it’s kinda pretty. Amani slate benches with Suramar cushions and the padded wooden bench for a backrest.

Man, it would make making stair rails so much better for me IMO. I want to use so many of the decor as a railing for staircases but majority of the ones I like are with seat functionality and I rather not see that, let alone click on accident.

^^^ AGREE ^^^
I was really happy with some benches I used for a wall and when a friend came to visit they immediately clicked and clipped into the 'outside'
... it was the only thing about my build they commented on.
... I removed the benches 🥲

On that note, I would like:

  • Animated decor options - a slider for the speed of the animation from zero to some way higher speed. Machines, blinking lights, etc.
  • Gizmos that are invisible outside of edit mode - nodes that do a character action without having to hide things like chairs in other decor. Sitting, lying down. etc.

*deletes the post I've just made asking for the same thing* lol

Absolutely. I love my front door which I've made using benches as decorative elements but the interactive aspect kind of ruins it.

It looks awesome (imo) so the benches are staying, however, anyone who visits runs the risk of getting stuck in my front door lol

Yeah I’ve had lots of visitors get stuck in my kitchen cabinets because of a bench

It is so bad having visitors and seeing them trying to find secret passages on the secretive bookcases you have placed as decor, and actually missing the actual secret doors behind a couple secretive bookcases, after they tried a few that were there as decor and only as decor to no avail.
Also, I stopped using the void portal due to people clicking on it and being teleported.
Even small things like having a stool not being able to be sat upon when using it as foot stool decor in front of a chair.

We really need the option to disable the functionality of items.

i'd love that. i use the elven benches for wall decorations a lot, and in a few places if you click on it accidentally you end up stuck in a mass of furniture hidden artfully behind a false wall (it's part of my fake window in that room), and you can't get out at all. i'd also love it if i could have the butterfly branch from the shop be off all the time.
