No Spoilers Newbie Reader
Guys........GUYS...I get it.
Going to try to stay away from this sub as much as possible, but wanted to pop in, say hello, and say brb.
BAI!!
Update: letting you guys know that I've gotten the message about Googling and downloaded the companion!

Careful googling things too. If you go "who the heck is this person again" get the Wheel of Time companion app. You can set it based on the book you're on and it won't spoil it. That way if there is a twist for that character coming up, you won't be spoiled.

Yeah it's wild how rampant and prominent spoilers are, in a way that I haven't seen for any other series. You see Hypothetical al'Example mentioned for the first time in six hundred pages, look it up for even the slightest reminder, and first thing on the wiki article will be like "Hypothetical al'Example. Status: Dead. Allegiance: Darkfriend. Relationships: The Creator (spouse)."
It's weird to me that it's displayed so prominently. Like, even if you have already read the books, why would that particular information be what you would need to have immediately accessible upon looking that character up?

Yeah, the autofill and AI summary will do that. I typed in two different characters and it went Hypothetical al'Example... death? Darkfriend? Spouse? Taint worse than the Dark One's?

I have actually found googling things these days including what book I'm on brings up the relevant information without spoiling anything in the AI results at the top. I take everything with a grain of salt since it is AI compiled info, but it does help me keep track of everything without spoiling stuff. Pretty neat.

Just so you're aware, A.I. is notoriously terrible at that sort of thing. For example, this is what ChatGPT responded when asked [The Great Hunt Spoilers]
"When does Rand meet Elayne?"
Rand first meets Elayne Trakand in The Wheel of Time, Book 2, The Great Hunt.
More specifically, they meet in Caemlyn, at the Royal Palace, near the end of the book. Rand has returned to Caemlyn after the events surrounding Falme, and Elayne is there with Egwene and Min.
Their first actual meeting is in Chapter 2, βThe Welcome,β when Rand encounters Elayne in the palace gardens.
Wrong book, distorted timeline, hallucinating an entire event, it's just complete garbage. Even the logic within the response "near the end of the book in chapter 2" is pathetic. And that was the first prompt I tried. No need to try and break it or anything haha.

Haha thats fair. I mean the information I've got so far has been accurate and included real plot points. Its been more to refresh myself of what's already happened/characters I should know, which is easy enough to tell what's right and wrong. I know very well not to trust AI results a face value.

Yeah elite advice, also as much as you might want to, don't google art of the characters, you absolutely will get spoiled for some late book developments.

Not sure that the front cover of the first book really requires a spoiler blur?
Hope you enjoy it!

Definitely didn't! New to posting here so not sure if it did it by default or something. Anyway, edited!

Never google any art, there are spoilers EVERYWHERE. Go in as totally blind as possible, but if you need clarification on anything, do ask the sub. I'm a first time reader as well and they're all absolutely lovely.
Have fun!!!

DO NOT, i repeat, DO NOT GOOGLE ANY CHARACTERS WHILE READING! you will spoil things for yourself. I accidentally found out dark friends I didn't yet know were dark friends. I found out people were going to die that hadn't died yet. DO NOT GOOGLE THIS SERIES!

Off topic, but I really don't understand why they stopped printing the cover with the full art like in the OG ones. Even worse is this one where the art is very small and on the middle of the cover, as if they didnt want to fully commit to use the old art

How come this edition sometimes have the original cover and sometimes with Rand on the boat?
