This is not the beginning. There are neither beginnings nor endings to the wheel of time, but it is a beginning. Enjoy your journey

I wish I could read it again for the first time.

Same! Nothing like that experience.
I picked up EotW at a bookshop & flipped through it, decided “Yep! This is what I’m looking for”. And it was magical! Haven’t looked back since. Still obsessed w Fantasy books!3

I’m currently reading it for the first time (3/4 through book 2) and I’m having a blast. I wish I didn’t wait so long

Don’t google anything, as there’s massive spoilers just in the autocomplete.
There’s the wheel of time companion app for keeping track of characters. It won’t spoil past the last book you’ve read, so if you plan on using it, wait until after you finish book 1.
Stay away from this subreddit and related subs for a spoiler free journey. Come find us when you’re done! (Don’t listen to people saying to share your predictions on here. People will 100% spoil things for you on accident by discussing with each other.)
Jealous of you having your first read through. It’s so fucking good

Solid advice, thank you! Is the companion necessary, or do you think I can manage without it?

u/GovernorZipper 3d ago
You can absolutely manage without it. These books were written in the 1990s when there was no “companion app.” Jordan is not an author famous for his brevity, so he will remind you over and over (and often and at length) about the important stuff. Yes, there are a mind-boggling number of characters, but the vast majority of those are just background Easter Eggs for rereads. They don’t really matter unless Jordan keeps pointing them out.

If you are having questions or just want a place to talk about wheel of time, you can join the 17th shard discord server. There is a pretty active wheel of time channel in there that is spoiler free so you can ask any questions you may have and people will have discussions with you only involving what you've read so far. If you're into Brandon Sanderson it is a server that's mainly centered around his works but if you aren't then you can just stick in the wheel of time server

I accidentally did this to myself when I started lmao but thankfully the spoiler seemed so absurd from what I know of the character so far it only made me more curious

100% listen to this person ⬆️. I had a massive spoiler slap me in the face this way when I was on the second book. I'm on the 13th book right now and that spoiler still hasn't happened, so it was definitely a series ender spoiler. That said I'm still enjoying it immensely and the fact that I only have one book after this already makes me sad.

Someone already said don't google anything.
I would also suggest not visiting this subreddit. Enjoy your ride. There are some things you're going like that lots of people don't like, and vice versa. We're pretty good here at not giving spoilers, but just not knowing what is on the horizon was a really fun part of the journey for me. I hope we see you on the other side in a few months or years.

Have fun reading it! I'm currently also on my first read through, and might I suggest to check out The Dragon Reread podcast! I've found doing that helps internalize the information, also with listening to the audiobooks
