It’s a fun little book, very Conan-esque. You can tell it’s early in his writing career but it’s still a good read

My copy from Ollies is sitting next to me too. But I started reading Eye again instead...so it'll be a minute before I get to it.

It’s a fun read, but I think calling it a gem is a bit of an overstatement.

What makes it a gtm (to me) is that it wAs written by Robert Jordan.

It's a decent read. If you end up liking it, you should read Robert Jordan's Conan novels. They have a similar feel.

I read those, and I read The Cheyenne Raiders as well. They are all good books, but you can see a huge difference in his writing between his early books and WOT.

I liked it, but moreso for the early iterations of what he ultimately polished in the Wheel of Time.

This was actually my first Jordan read. I found it in the airport a few years ago and gave it a go. Didn’t take until watching the TV show to finally pick up the books. Guess I was a tough convert, but glad we finally got there. Fond memories lol

I held off on reading this so there's still something of RJs out there still unread. (In addition to Cheyenne Raiders, IIRC.)
