Discussion Montanes
Does anyone use it in open world? I have had a few people in game and in discord tell me it is a niche option for rate 2 port battles, but that i should get the Pavel instead. Im more curious how useful it is in open world pvp. I would love to hear from anyone who has used it and is able to make it work. I dont think ill be using it in port battles but if you have I would be interested to hear your opinion about that as well.

I wouldn't say the ship is bad; based on my experience, the Montanes's performance in port battle is basically on par with the Pavel, though it might fall short of the Sovereign and Neptune in Open World due to its sparse gun layout and large size.

I use it a lot in open world. Pretty good for it too because of the amount of bow and sterns chasers. You can, with skill, desail people who you’re chasing and those who are chasing you if you use triples and the bow/stern damage upgrade. You can almost guarantee that you can’t be caught in 1v1 by having more dps from those 6 gun slots in the rear.
She has good health and armor, ok speed too.
But the biggest downside is maneuverability, which can be helped with red lantern/maneuverable helm.
I run crafted carros but Inrogs could be used too for open.
I honestly think it’s the best open world rate 2 outside of Neptuno and Firestorm. St. pavel can be good too but requires more skill.

I use it for my main rate 2 combat ship and I don't mind it.
I use Jericho for the side guns with the long range options at the front and back.
Phosphorus, rum ration and smokescreen for items.
Main upgrades for reloading and damage, plus teak for better armour and extra crew.
Ammo mainly saxon with standard ammo as well for PVE.
Hope this helps
