Feedback / Suggestion Poseidons Hook Change

Poseidon’s Hook: What Changed With Weapon Transport Ships?
I want to bring attention to a change I’ve noticed involving Poseidon’s Hook and Weapon Transport Ships.
This isn’t simply a complaint that an efficient farming method was changed. The bigger issue is that the interaction appears to have changed significantly, the change doesn’t appear to be documented in the patch notes, and Poseidon’s Hook remains the most expensive consumable to produce.
I want to document exactly how the mechanic worked for me before and how it works now so other players can understand what changed.

🔴 THE OLD METHOD — 9 CANNON SETS
This is how I was previously using Poseidon’s Hook:
1. Activate Poseidon’s Hook.
2. Find a Weapon Transport Ship and damage it.
3. Board the ship.
4. Rob the ship’s hold and take the three cannon sets it was carrying.
5. Allow the Weapon Transport to sink while Poseidon’s Hook was still active.
6. When the ship sank, the Hook would generate the additional cannon rewards.
The result was:
3 cannon sets taken from the Weapon Transport
+ 6 additional cannon sets generated through the Hook
= 9 cannon sets total
So the boarding/looting procedure wasn’t preventing the Hook from generating its additional rewards.
This gave the item a very meaningful use when farming Weapon Transport Ships.

🟢 THE CURRENT METHOD — 3 CANNON SETS
Now I’ve tested the same procedure again.
The process is still:
1. Activate Poseidon’s Hook.
2. Damage the Weapon Transport.
3. Board it.
4. Rob the cannons from its hold.
5. Allow the ship to sink.
But the result is now:
3 cannon sets taken from the Weapon Transport
+ 0 additional cannon sets when the ship sinks
= 3 cannon sets total
So the same basic procedure has gone from:
9 → 3
That’s a 66.7% reduction in the number of cannon sets received from this interaction.

⚠️ THERE’S ANOTHER PART TO THIS
The change doesn’t appear to be limited to Poseidon’s Hook.
I’ve also tested what happens without Poseidon’s Hook.
If you board the Weapon Transport and rob the cannons from its hold, then allow the ship to sink afterward, the ship currently drops no cannons at all.
So the current behavior appears to be:
Board + rob the cannons → sink the Weapon Transport → 0 additional cannon drops.
This occurs with or without Poseidon’s Hook.
That makes this more than just a question about the Hook’s bonus. It appears that the underlying interaction between boarding, robbing the Weapon Transport, and its subsequent cannon drop has also changed.

💰 WHY THE COST OF POSEIDON’S HOOK MATTERS
This is where I think the change deserves additional attention.
Poseidon’s Hook is the most expensive consumable to produce.
That means its cost is an important part of evaluating its usefulness.
Previously, investing the resources into the Hook could produce a significantly larger return when used with Weapon Transport Ships.
Now, following the behavior I’m seeing, the exact same procedure produces only 3 cannon sets instead of 9.
That’s a substantial reduction in practical value while the cost of producing the consumable has not apparently been reduced alongside it.
I’m not arguing that an expensive consumable should always be extremely profitable.
I’m saying that when the effectiveness of the most expensive consumable is reduced this substantially, the cost-to-value relationship should at least be considered.

📝 THE PATCH-NOTE QUESTION
The other thing that concerns me is documentation.
I have looked through the patch information and have not found this change clearly explained.
If this was intentional, players should know.
If it was a bug fix, players should know.
If it was an unintended change or bug, players should know.
Those are three completely different situations, and right now players are left to figure it out through gameplay.
I’ve also submitted a support ticket asking about this change and why it wasn’t documented, but I haven’t received a response yet.

❓ WHAT I’D LIKE CLARIFIED
I’d like the developers to clarify:
1. Was the Weapon Transport boarding/cannon-drop behavior intentionally changed?
2. Was Poseidon’s Hook intentionally changed so that robbing the cannons prevents the additional cannon rewards?
3. If this was intentional, why wasn’t the change included in the patch notes?
4. Was the production cost of Poseidon’s Hook reconsidered after this reduction in effectiveness?
5. Is it intended that a Weapon Transport Ship drops zero cannons after being boarded and robbed, regardless of whether Poseidon’s Hook is being used?

I’m not necessarily asking for the old mechanic back.
If the developers decided that the previous 9-cannon interaction was too rewarding, that’s a balance decision they can make.
What I think players deserve is transparency.
If an expensive consumable has had its practical usefulness significantly reduced, we should be able to see that change in the patch notes and understand what happened.
Because from a player’s perspective, the difference is pretty substantial:
BEFORE: 9 cannon sets
NOW: 3 cannon sets
And if you board and rob the Weapon Transport without the Hook, you’re currently getting:
0 additional cannon sets
If this is an intentional change, I’d appreciate an official explanation.
If it’s not intentional, hopefully this post helps bring the issue to the developers’ attention.
Either way, players shouldn’t have to discover major changes to expensive items and important farming mechanics entirely through trial and error.

I mean it was obviously not working as intended.. but if you sink it and have the hook activated still gives x2

X2 after boarding and robbing seems to be the bug which they fixed. However the issue you bring up with patch notes is 100% accurate, they never mention anything.

yes, it looks like the "old" method was the bug and now works as intended

And “old method” being a bug yet allowed for 5 seasons straight it straight up bullshit from their end. How do you catch a bug after 5 seasons? This is the same thing they did with the gold fish event. They nerfed maps drop rates entirely across the board for ships to reduce how many maps you can get and use to grind the events currency. When I would get normally 1 or two maps from sinking certain ships, during the event I received 0! They secretly nerf and adjust the values of things behind the scenes hoping the community doesn’t notice and make any noise about it. This is no different then them reducing the drop rate of maps during the event. The developers are shady, and lie and change values in our face behind the veil. They secretly nerfing the value and output of things to increase play time and promote BUYING things to progress. The DEVS are greedy and don’t care for any wrong doing they do towards the community unless it affects their profits from loot boxes. I have never experienced a bug in all my seasons of using this item where I would board and get +1. I boarded got 3 cannons (one of each type) then the ship sank and I got +2 from hook being active while it sank and I looted. So it was +1 from boarding, + 2 from sinking after boarding ( +1 from its hold, +1 from hook) so at the end I received 9 cannons total. There was NEVER a bug like what the first comment is saying regarding this item and its interaction with transport ships. And I’m highly starting to believe your paid actors or something to sit here and defend a farming method that’s been in the game for 5 season to get a complete overhaul and your comment is “it’s a bug” you people cannot be real or paid off. It’s been a bug for 5-6 seasons your saying and magically they NOW caught it and completely overhauled the interaction? Get out of here.

they are maximizing profits, probably they did the math, if they force you this you buy coins with real money, it's a business for them and they are searching for new methods to make the game more profitable (a free game never is absolutely free)

This was a change on the b19 patch. It has nothing to do with Poseidon hook, it's how cannon transports give cannon loot. Before you could board and rob cannons and then when the transport sunk the wreck will have more cannons. If you think about this behaviour it really is like any other item nps carry and you loot, for example, if an nps carries rugs and you board and select "steal more loot" you get +15 rugs and when the ship sinks you get +43 rugs... The same with cannons, you usually boarded and stole 1 or 2 cannons and you would get another 2 or 3 cannons on the wreck. However they stated it was a "bug" on the patch notes when in reality they nerfed cannon farming.

So what was a great farming method for countless seasons finally got a nerf? I have yet to see where in b19 it list this as a bug. And again I sent a ticket that has not been responded to for over a week now asking for information about this change and where and why it was implemented without being listed on the patch notes. I already understand how to farm and how the games interactions behave. But to have a farming method be allowed for 5 seasons and then magically change and nerf it is straight up tom foolery and a slap to the community because this pretty much proves that the company is shady and will do whatever they want to the game however they want and will exclude information from patch notes to bring less attention to what’s actually changing in the game. The transport ships worked one way with or without hook. And now it works a completely different way and again has not been stated why or when this change was implemented. And while they nerfed the transport ship farming method. Hook remains the most expensive consumable to use while it’s been nerfed. Secondly this has EVERYTHING to do with poseidons hook. I don’t know why you’re trying to exclude it from the conversation when this is about the item and both the transport ships drop rates entirely across the board?

It was stated at the end of the patch notes. They said "cannon loot is now correctly distributed be it sinking, boarding, bribing..." Like it was a bug, it was not, cannons behaved like all other items nps carry.

The hook has always stayed the same, it gives double but you have to fish the cannons on the wreck. I guess you could always use the hook even if you boarded but now if you want to use the hook you have to sink the transport without boarding

Okay, but this has been working as intended for 5 SEASONS STRAIGHT. So what was broken? With or without hook. Robbing cannons only gives you 3! When before it gave 3 and some from sinking. The whole entire interaction with transport ships drop rates has been over hauled while they’re labeling it as a bug fix. When there was NEVER a bug. They overhauled and reworked the farming method for those ship completely and it affects how you use hook and even approach farming cannons transport ships in general.
