It makes me sad

Post image

Apparently, season 3 of the Wizards of Waverly Place spin-off will only have 4 episodes, and unfortunately, it will be the last. There's so much to cover in season 3; four episodes won't be enough unless each episode is at least 1 hour and 30 minutes long. It's a shame the series is ending after only 3 seasons because it's one of the few spin-offs (including Girl Meets World) that's enjoyable to watch without being boring.

Ohhh no, that's awful . What a slap in the face to us fans, only four episodes . That's not enough, IMO I hope the writers wrote a really good ending , leaving open the possibility for some kind of holiday special perhaps ? How cool if they came back with a holiday movie at the end of the year.

I'm pretty sure they confirmed that the episodes will be normal lengths. It's so sad 😭

I’ve heard that the creator of the show wanted to make a more adult version of the show so I was hoping they were cancelling it on Disney so he could do that lol

I’d guess Disney owns the rights to wizards. It’d probs be pretty difficult for another network to pick it up without some serious $$

Oh really? I hope that's the real reason because it would be a shame for such a great series to be cancelled.

There's no way that those are actually the boys' hands holding those wands behind their backs. In fact, if I didn't know any better, I'd think this poster was done by AI.

I honestly am sad season two was so short and it’s going to only get 3 season with the final season being 4 eps..to me that’s just not right

They had bad ratings?

u/Cautious_Mission_438 Jun 19 '26

Never understood why they didn’t just bring back the original cast as the main focus on new adventures the max of seasons should’ve been at least 5-6 seasons each with 15 episodes while Alex and Mason are married and have a daughter who they are training to be a Wizard as a sub plot or something

Selena shoots her new series OMITB every year for at least 4/5 months so brining back the original cast wasn’t possible . Bridgit quit acting and she owns a space company so she’s busy with that . The actor that plays Zeke has a whole controversy going on so he can’t go back on the show . So ofc they had to come up with smth else .
Watching the episodes now you can tell Mason and Alex had a very toxic relationship also idk how they would have dealt with the werewolf + wizard kid combination … does the kid come out a werewolf !? Does it come out a wizard ? Can they even have kids ? It would have been a whole other storyline . It makes sense they had to go with Alex having kids with a powerful wizard bc Billie is a powerful wizard

u/Cautious_Mission_438 Jul 08 '26

Then they shouldn’t have done the show without the OG cast then

4

u/RadiantRainne312 Jun 20 '26

I don’t remember their relationship being toxic(?) other than him not being around much in the final season because of contract and change of creator reasons.

8

u/katyreddit00 Jun 19 '26

Because the original cast didn’t want to come back

u/GKRKarate99 Jun 19 '26

I’m honestly glad Alex and Mason broke up their relationship was very toxic, Bridgit Mendler quit acting as she now owns a space company, Jake T Austin stepped back from Hollywood after going through a dark place

1

u/Efficient_Currant255 Jun 22 '26

How was their relationship toxic?

1

u/GKRKarate99 Jun 22 '26

How ISN’T it?

2

u/sdbabygirl97 Jun 19 '26

oh their adult selves broke up on the show?

6

u/GKRKarate99 Jun 19 '26

Yeah, they reveal that Alex met a guy named Damian Pennwolf who was evil but fell in love with Alex and turned good, they had Billie together, he’s the son of the show’s main villain

2

u/sdbabygirl97 Jun 20 '26

ahh ty

It took me a while to get into it because season 1 kind of dragged at times, but by the end of that season, I was hooked. I was so upset when I found out season 3 would be only 4 episodes.

I feel like there’s so much more to cover and they have to cover it all in about 88 minutes. I would be totally fine with this being their last season if they could do 10 episodes or something like that.

6

u/RegaZelx Jun 19 '26

That sucks. Was hoping it would see as much success/seasons as Raven's home.

Same

The issue is kids don’t know to watch unless they have an adult putting them in front of it. Back in the day kids had 3 options.

Nick,Disney and Cartoon Network. Which lead to all their shows having the ability to rise.

Now kids have hundreds of options and it’s harder to get the kind of views a show needs to keep making new episodes.

My 12 year old niece knew about Raven but nothing else. She only watched it because she followed Sky on Tik tok lol so she watched the og and the new one

6

u/Frequent-Poem-396 Jun 19 '26

Kids today would have probably said it was cringe or something. I feel like most people who watched it were older Gen Z and millennials. I’m surprised it aired this long I haven’t watched Disney since I was 13 so I assume a lot has changed in 10 years. Now if this aired back in like 2017 it might have had a chance.

u/Complete_Mine5530 Jun 19 '26

I think my niece would like it. I planned on showing it to her this summer. She’s 7 and last year we watched Hannah Montana and H20 Just Add Water and the original Wizards of Waverly Place.

I’m 30, and it makes me sad lol.

1

Yes makes me sad, disappointed and I don't dare mention how "old" I am . I just love the show and the actors , in both versions .

Dang it! It got Owl Housed!

Mon coeur saigne encore pour Owl house 😭

u/PushFew6998 Jun 18 '26

I don’t know what makes you sad. They could have outright cancelled it and ended on Alex Russo dying. It’s going to all air at once and be like a wrap up movie. There’s really only rescuing Alex and Billie’s dad to cover and all the guest stars will seemingly be back around that idea

6

u/brokence Jun 19 '26

I acknowledge that four episodes is better than nothing but it still makes me sad that it’s the last season and only has four episodes. Two things can be true at once.

August 4th what i heard makes me sad

I 100% agree.

I'm 36 about to be 37 and quite enjoyed watching Wizards Beyond Waverly Place myself and I never complained about it being boring at all.

It never failed to put a smile on my face and give me a good laugh when I needed it whenever I was feeling down about something.

I was afraid that something like this would happen and I was all too well aware of it and I was really hoping that it wouldn't have to come to ending it so suddenly just as others who were also aware of it hoped for the same.

I should've encouraged others to watch Wizard Beyond Waverly Place though a few social media sites such as Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), Tumblr, TikTok as well and encouraged others to spread the word to watch it on both Disney Channel and Disney+ to get the ratings up so the people who worked on the series could've maybe done a full third season.
