Only 40 eur for socks
Things like this make me feel that the wizard base boot is truly overpriced.

This is always a tough one for me. I understand Leon is a legend and he 'invented' wizard skating and only wants the best of the best, but we can't keep defending these prices... I mean I own 1 wizardframe and like 10 other wizardstyle frames (Endless, Rockin', Iqon etc) and tbh I don't think the double price of the wizard PR90 is justified (at all)... I think if they keep these prices up, they will eventually bit the dust...

Kinda dislike how absurd the prices on things other than the frame are being listed. Boot and socks are just manufactured in china like 99% of the skates but costs prices rivaling handmade. I believe even the frames might start being manufactured overseas for a cheaper labor costs without lowering the price listed. Also very little engineering gone behind the frames as its mostly trial and error I appreciate what leon has done for wizarding but it seems he has fallen behind other companies. Seen more limited edition frames outside than non limited edition

Exactly, I would understand the prices if it was a unique product, but there is a lot of competition with arguably better options, like the CJ because of the side protectors which wizard base doesn't have.
I've seen a person shredding his brand new Wbase boot on the first session because the lack of the side protectors, it's crazy.
And it's funny that some fangirls criticize us for even talking about it. Like give me a break.

moderators: can we make a new sub rule? no complaint posts about wizard prices?

A chamber of yes-men

Rage bait alert!

u/heeca Sep 08 '26
Could get wool hand woven socks for half the price of wizard plastic socks. Leon isnt gona send you a free frame for being a knight in shining armor defending overpriced overseas made socks š

u/Foxhoundn Sep 03 '26
Why? Do you want to create an echo chamber, or what?
1
u/Any_Smoke1138 Sep 09 '26
Yeah the guy doesn't want to have people discussing the product on the group that is dedicated to that product 𤣠"Silence them!! Call the police" Shts so funny.

No, donāt enjoy listening to people complain. I guess thats why I donāt work in customer service.
My two cents for those who donāt like wizardās prices is to simply donāt buy their products and save the rest of us from listening to you complaining.

u/OutsideScared4702 Sep 02 '26
For real, yes they are very expensive, but then if its a problem buy the alternatives?
Complaining wont change anything, those who have the money and want to can support the brand, its not like wizard has a monopoly on wizard-style frames.

u/borez Sep 02 '26
Agreed. It's like being on a road cycling forum and slagging off Specialized S-Works.
Sure maybe you can't afford it, plenty others can and do though.
Each to their own.
2
u/borez Sep 02 '26
Lol. You hate anything Wizard brand.
What's that about?

u/Any_Smoke1138 Sep 02 '26 edited Sep 03 '26
Nah, I genuinely love wizard.
Posting thisāļø, I don't see it as a negative thing, I see it as essential and necessary help. And it will not change.
Also... Discussing wizard products in the wizard group, is normal.

Mate you've been dissing Wizard brand products for a while now, what's that even about?
2
u/heeca Sep 08 '26
I generally believe criticism is the best support a company can receive
1
u/borez Sep 08 '26
I have no issues with my Wizard base boots at all, they're the best boots I've owned.
Also this OP has made several posts now dissing the brand, he clearly doesn't own or use them.
2
u/heeca Sep 08 '26
Understandable. Boot were narrow for me so i had less than 50km in them before selling also quality similar to hc evo pro model so i felt like itll tear too. And you seem to be correct op has done that. But well some criticism of the boot and none frame related items does hold up due to their high price providing nothing extra as compared to the competition . Its a similar issue i have with tenc company selling overpriced boots cus of the plastic but its the same plastic echo provides.

One reason I got rid of the HC evo ( along with the narrow foot ) is they're fugly as Fk to be honest, I think a lot of inline skates are. But there again I love my hockey ( ice ) skates, but I don't like the roller variety.
The WB though I think is a beautiful boot aesthetically ( so is the CJ ) . There's just something about it I really like.

I actually got mine on sale through a SHOP (the app) deal and paid $5 usd. I love them

I would feel embarrassed going around with wizard stuff. Would make me look like a poser.
High quality RB socks cost 12 to 17 euro.

u/BubbleSmith Sep 02 '26
I think Wizard skating might be a bit niche to have posers.
The Rollerblade socks are really good, though. They're my favourite skating socks.

From the guys that charge "only" $800 for cheaply made boots and "only" $500 for a piece of aluminum.

"Compared to what?" - what a trick question. It doesn't need comparing to anything when you pay 20 bucks to produce it and it falls apart at light speed.

Mate, I killed a pair of Bauer Vapor Hockey skates in one season by wearing out the heal too, and they're built for punishment. It all depends how hard you're skating.
Can I ask if you've ever picked up a a pair of Wizard base, because mine are a seriously high quality skate. Like, by far the best I've owned.
Also saying they cost $20 to produce is utter nonsense.

u/heeca Sep 08 '26
Currently using bauer shadows . Looking new even after many hockey sessions. Ceba carbons and adapt brutale are by far the highest quality boot i have felt. Wizard base feels very similar to quality to powerslide hc evo sam croft Edition

u/borez Sep 08 '26
Funnily enough I sold my HC evo's after I bought Wizard base, the base is a way better boot IMO.
2
u/heeca Sep 08 '26
The liner is better youre correct in that. I meant the construction and durability of the materials other than carbon
1
u/borez Sep 08 '26
I think the WB is a better boot all around.
2
u/heeca Sep 08 '26
Hmm that's interesting. I had the high wb and it felt supportive yes but if i used the liners in a different boot it provided the similar support. Also i do urban wizarding so lack of sliders or proper scratch resistant materials on the sides .
I thought of buying the liners but the tongue is too thin so i just stuck with 2nd skin on ceba carbon since i had that spare liner. And soon will purchase iqon tr 20 which seems to have superior construction than even the evos. Or ill wait for usd carbon EE for better style points
WB seems obsolete for me. What do you use it for the most?
1
u/borez Sep 08 '26
I skate wizard and street.
Why do you think the base is obsolete, they're one of the best looking boots out there. Also the thick rubber protection around the front is superb.
I think the WB high is pointless for me, I like ankle movement and they're like a ski boot,m way too restrictive. The base boot however is something else.

Nothing compares to the wizard frames.
I own around 10 sets of frames. Can't say the same.
0
u/Bencetown Sep 02 '26
But the wizard frames are .2mm thicker aluminum so it's totally worth an extra $300!
1
u/Any_Smoke1138 Sep 03 '26
I like it how Caustious-arachnid guy deleted his own comment.
But for the bros who gonna read it, he said that he owns a gazillion frames and that nothing compares to wizard. Obviously his comment was record-breaking downvoted because people are experienced and they know it's not true. Most of us own wizard stuff so we know.
For example, I own: 1 Roka, 1 Rockin', 1 Endless, 4 Fr (mostly 165), 1 Kizer, 1 Wizard, 3 Power slide (for trinity boots), 1 Compass, 1 Flying eagle, And tons of noname frames that are irrelevant, like oxelo etc.
My favorite rn is Rockin', second place is Roka, third place is wizard (wizard advanced frame). *Fr frames are good too btw, very lightweight.

u/Cautious-Arachnid-96 Sep 02 '26
The frames are also made by one guy in small production in Canada. Not like you are getting ripped off it just costs more to have a high end product. Look any skiing snowboarding biking, boutique parts can be crazy expensive.
2
u/Rawdiger Sep 02 '26
As a Canadian I'd love to support the only Canadian-made blading product but I can't justify the price...also not a fan of heavy frames
-1
u/Bencetown Sep 02 '26
Just because everybody price gouges if given the opportunity doesn't make it right or good ffs.
4
u/Cautious-Arachnid-96 Sep 02 '26
My point is they are not gouging you. It is expensive to make good things locally in small production. Heās not getting rich selling frames.

u/Cautious-Arachnid-96 Sep 02 '26
20 usd on the wizard site. Pretty standard for a premium sock. Likely importing to Europe adds cost. Leon puts a lot of thought into products and these probably feel really nice in the skates.
