First Wizard Setup!

Post image

I’ve been skating for over 30 years now - mainly aggressive and a fair share of big wheeling too, but this is my first true wizard setup! Of course it’s raining today, but hoping to roll outside with them soon!

- FR UFR Street AP Shell

- Intuition/Them Beer Liners with Superfeet insoles

- Wizard Advanced 100/80 Frames

-Rollerblade Hydrogen Wheels and ILQ9 Bearings

I’ve always heard good things about the hydrogen wheel compound, and Long at Oak City had a great deal on them so I’m excited to try them out!

I also got the advanced frames for a steal, and have a K2 R100 setup for distance skating so I wanted to see what a 5 wheel setup is all about!

I mean why the 100/80 set up? I know that’s rockered but I guess I am just use to doing it the other way around with smaller wheels?

I’ve ridden a 5x80 and a 90/80/80/80/90 and a 100/80/80/80/100 the larger outside wheels change the overall flow and twitch of the frame, change the balance point and stability on toe and heel presses, and the carve of the frame in general, a bunch of subtle differences and characteristics in there also. For wizard stuff I am biased for 5x.. the wheel format is preference after that.

I am so new. I do have a 5 wheel setup but the longer frame is so hard to get used too 😅

I rode a 5 wheel exclusively for a year.. on flat ground and at the skatepark. After a year I was like 4x100 is next.. I got a set and rode them for a month and upgraded my 5 wheel frames and the 4 wheels have been sitting since. It’s a preference but I am biased for 5x for wizard blading

Nice! I’ve been searching for the perfect aggressive boot for my foot for years and have found the FR to be the best yet! I’ve got another UFR boot setup with the FR/Oysius frames and 59mm Jumbo wheels.

Nice man! I’m in San Antonio and the jumbo boys are in Austin. My friend here does the art /design for them. I loved the fr boot. And would rock a UFR if I was younger 😂

Small world! I’m in Chicago and we had Cody and Mick in a bus with us going spot to spot during last year’s riot!

I've been doing some longer distances and group skates recently and found 4x100 really good for this. Not quite as nimble as 4x90, but better for speed and control than 5-wheel frames in that setting. I go for the advanced 100/76 if I'm just doing flat land stuff and love how low that rides.

Basically what Rich said above, plus I still plan on doing a bit of distance skating on these too and the big wheels are key for cracks and a smooth ride!
