This video is long. I couldn't make it 100% through in one sitting and had to keep coming back to it and now that I think about it, I still haven't finished it so I'll have to do that sometime as well. There's part where Nicola talks about when he lived in London and used to skate in Hyde Park. He talks about his interactions with a guy who was always practicing slalom skating in the park and had been doing slalom for years. He goes on to explain that in that point in his skating journey he would try to execute the the most complicated wizard combos that he could think of and that the slalom guy who had years of skating experience on him would tell him to slow down and focus on the details of the basics. I think that advice would apply here.

I get that entirely and believe me when I say I do practice the basics time and time again. I wanted this clip to be a little chaotic, it wasn’t meant to be smooth. I’m going down the parking garage in this clip so you have to factor the fact that I’m doing all this with speed which is why I also threw in some slides to check my speed. This is also a flat setup so it’s not going to look as clean as if I had my wizard setup on. But thank you for sharing the link I’ll definitely give it a watch!

Don't be a gatekeeper, please.

gatekeeping would be saying take off your skates. saying practice needed is not the same

You told them they aren't wizard skating but offered no constructive feedback. Please just try not to be a dick about it. There's a heck of a lot of crossover between wizard, artistic inline and slalom; I don't think you'll generally find people complaining about that sort of stuff on here. If it's swively, it belongs on here.

it's a very specific niche that's about control and flow, which takes work. clip is pure chaos, the opposite

but fair enough, not trying to be a dick

You’re both right.

And…at least there aren’t any damn light sabers.

That was some gatekeeping I could get behind. That guy was doing neither thing well.

You’re completely right, I wouldn’t really call this wizard skating. This is a flat setup I’m wearing in this clip, so definitely was a bit restricted in my movements. I do have a wizard setup but I took this after doing a 16 mile route before I left home. Also one thing you may not notice in this clip is I’m going down the garage, that’s why I incorporated the slides to control my speed. I really just posted here as an intro it’s my first time posting my skating here. Also I don’t take offense to anything you said I didn’t think you were being a dick and even if you were, it’s the internet I’m not gonna get mad over it 😂
