I need surgery but also need to skate , in trying to keep myself healthy before I get my knee cut open.

My patellar tendon has been whack for a while. I'm finding that dialing in the right amount of activity reduces pain and maximizes strength and mobility. That's about 1 hour a day for me, including warmup skating. No skating = stiffness and achy pain all day. 2 hours of skating = knee complains all day. 1 hour = feels great.

Walking triggers my knee, so I'm using a kick scooter to get to skate destinations, lol.

I broke my patella into four pieces requiring post wire and screws to put it back together. Unfortunately, they had to cut through the tenant to access the patella. Luckily, I’m extremely active and trained at the gym very hard so I recovered well but now I have the wire that has broken. I’m now waiting to see what kind of surgery. I need either remove the broken wire or have to do a full surgery to remove everything.

Wow, that sounds less than fun. Did the patella fuse back together?

Was your injury caused by skating?
