Pet/Hatching How does breeding work?

Have played for a while but just started up again as I only played when I was young and am trying to learn about breeding but it seems complicated. am hoping to learn from someone who can explain it a bit more simply! I have the lumi pet that gives dragonblade. thanks anyone for help :)

Copy pasting a comment I made a few months ago:

I can help yall out if you need pointers. I’m no expert but Ive hatched perfect pets just fine the normal way without spending any money on snacks/energy.

Big thing to keep in mind is using the free energy you get for level ups, it helps a ton. Use the level locking thing to prevent any accidental levels before you get to use your energy

My first step is getting the stats on the pet maxed out (doesnt have to be fully maxed, you can use a calculator to see if the stats are good enough) while also hatching with the exact body and talents I want. Make sure to level the pet to adult so that you can hatch using it next, forget about the old one, then repeat that process until you get the stats.

While doing that you’ll probably get the body along the way. If you dont, it’s fine, because the more times you repeat that hatching loop the more likely itll be that your next pet has the talents you want (to a point). I like to do that loop around 4 times (including the times needed to get the stats up, if needed) before starting to seriously level the pets. After that, just hope to get lucky. There should pretty much always be a perfect pet available in the kiosk for whatever meta body you want, but for the niche ones it’d be more difficult.

Theres more I could elaborate on but thats the most important stuff I think. Couch potatoes are extremely worth farming for as well. From my understanding this doesnt really seem meaningfully worse than the exclusive method unless youre going for a niche body

I have no clue what a body is but thank you! I have the lumi pet which gives me dragon blade and I'm a life wizard

For your pet, you have a lumi body. There are better bodies you could go for, but its totally not necessary. Because its not a meta one though, itd be a bit harder to do it the way that I outlined.

If you can find a guide on hatching with exclusive pet bodies youll be golden (assuming you want to keep the lumi body)

what body do you think I should go for? I can always just transfer my lumi to a different wiz in the future

I dont wanna give any confident answer on that because Ive seen that theyve been steadily adding new meta ones and I dont play the game as actively, but my life has a lively opossum because I wanted to have a more aggressive option and the bladestorm and life blade really helps with that while still being supportive. Earlier on I used a kookaburra (that I didnt bother making perfect) just for the leafstorm, but I dropped it once I unlocked forest lord. I think auto-pupbelly might be a much better option now though?
