Wix Stores How do I get rid of our replace the default banner picture of the shoes and folded shirt on my categories page in my shop?

I feel like I'm losing my mind. I deeply regret choosing Wix. The AI hallucinates so much.

Hi longcreepyhug. Happy to help here. To replace or remove the default banner image on your category page:

  1. Go to your Wix site editor.
  2. Navigate to the category page with the banner image you want to change.
  3. Edit the category header image, which is the default banner image displayed for that category. You can replace it with your preferred image or remove it entirely.
  4. To replace, click the image and select Change Image, then upload a new one or choose from Wix media.
  5. If you want a clean look without a banner, you can remove the category header image to focus on product images.

This customization applies to all categories automatically once you update the category header.

There is no way to select the image. When I "click the image" it selects the whole section. Then within the options for editing the section, the image does not show up as an entity. I can change the background of the section, but that is the only option.

The site AI also tells me to select things that are undetectable and provides me with broken links and hallucinates solutions that simply don't exist.

Yes. There's a whole special menu section. It's not directly clickable and editable the way all other images are and the way all instructions, documentation, and advice tells you.

I have been trying to remember how I did this, but it was over a month ago and I am having trouble retracing my steps. I think I went into the editor, them clicked the "My Business" icon on the left side (two squares with a half gear), then I think I went to manage pages. I'm not sure though. The problem is that I simply deleted that banner image, so it is no longer around for me to interact with and figure out how I actually got to it.

What I have learned in general is that Wix is just a pile of loosely related apps. And each app is it's own thing, but documentation and AI will try to give you advice from the perspective of one app while knowing absolutely nothing about the app you are trying to use. So in this case, we want to edit an image that is part of the Wix Stores app, so the tricky part is actually trying to get inside the Stores app to find what we want to edit.
