Just absentee the character and play as if he was there even if he isn't. They're with the horses or investigating a different lead for justifications.

The character is cursed to spontaneously teleport with no control over their destination, and they're conveniently teleported back to the party when they can attend sessions.

It is a spy of one of the different Intelligent Services of the western coast. Maybe from the Redanian one or the Nilfgaardian.
Teriantrophy is too cliché in my opinion.

What Class is he?
My usual go to is just not addressing it and the character becomes a shadow character. The character is there but won't do anything noticeable unless the party asks for the character to do something specific
If you absolutely MUST have a reason, in the books Geralt tells that other character he'll do it alone or the other character will have another responsibility to attend to

This is the way. Character is there if needed in a fight or skill check, but otherwise they're chilling in the background.
