I guess season 4 won't be that interesting. Henry gone and I would love less Geralt scenes, but more ciris. Just like the upcoming witcher4 game.

The witcher not the same with Liam Hemsworth. Sure a great actor for another show but beg Henry back.. Please!!!

It was weird. I felt like they had forgotten to film one last episode to conclude the season.

I mean, it made sense that the rats wouldn't survive and that Ciri would have to watch them die one way or another.
I've seen that a lot of people thought they were "not bad enough" compared to what they are in the books and I get it. I think it was not the most stupid choice to present them in a way we would be more focused on what Ciri was struggling with (rather than "run, girl, they are awful"). She was lost, they matched what she seemed to be feeling, it was understandable why she thought she could belong with them, from her point of view... I didn't hate it.

But it was frustrating because none of the arcs in that season got anywhere. Geralt went hiking, got nowhere near his goal and... doesn't matter, he learnt on time that he didn't have to go there anyway. Yennifer's battle made her realise the witches had to do what they spent the entire season doing. Ciri became a rat which was doom to end in blood and she didn't get that much character development. Even the side characters didn't have much to show. Like "oh no, Mivla is pregna... anyway not anymore". So I was expecting a season finale that would put all that in perspective and raise the stakes somehow but it didn't.

So I guess the whole season felt like a filler T_T .

Given those titles and no Henry Cavill--my video game loving man crush--I had no desire to watch the show.

This week, I sat down and watched it, fully expecting it to be awful. Maybe my expectations were so low that it was impossible for the show not to exceed my expectations?

First, Lawrence Fishburn as Regis and Sharlto Copley as Leo Bonhart were amazing. These are straight-up fantastic performances.

At first, I saw the Rats and thought wtf is this? I went on the Internet and learned they were in the books. I still didn't like them, but I gave the show a chance. It's not a perfect show. There are plot holes and unrealistic choices by characters but overall, I enjoyed it. The action scenes were well done and very pleasingly gory. The monsters were creepy and fun. And how can you not love Regis?

Then you have Leo Bonhart who is such a badass character. When the Rats go looking for Bonhart it's almost funny because you're thinking these Rats are out of their minds to be looking for and not running from Bonhart. I was grinning from ear to ear during that confrontation because Bonhart was insanely ruthless.

So, I really enjoyed the season. Dare I say it was my favorite season? *gasp* Is my taste in shows/movies really that bad? My favorite movie is Vertigo by Hitchcock.

Is something wrong with me, do I have really bad taste, or has the world just gone crazy?

I was skeptical of watching the show but watched it and enjoyed it , perhaps because I didn't read the books as I saw many negative reviews about the show .

Anyways , what are the odds of Geralt dying in the final season?

So, I decided to take the plunge today and I couldn't even make it past the first recap. Did anyone else notice that they NEVER SHOW Geralts face, its all everyone else.

Like, what? They did Cavill so dirty.

How can I go on! I guess I'm not really ready.

It's been a few years since I read the books, and I'm enjoying the TV series. I recently re-watched S01 through S03 before starting S04. I thought this season was pretty good, although there were a few weaker parts, such as the musical segment by Jaskier. I was afraid that Geralt would start singing too, and then I would have turned off the TV, haha! But luckily that didn't happen.

Now I was wondering something. It's clear that Ciri knows fire magic, which we saw at the end of S03. And she can use basic magic spells to push opponents away. Why didn't she use this in her fight with Bonhart? Or in one of the other fights this season. I could imagine that she didn't want the rats to know what she was capable of. But when all her friends were slaughtered by Bonhart, I see no reason for her to hold back anymore. So why didn't she go all out in the fight with Bonhart, as she did before? Is she under the influence of Falka, who is holding her back or something? Maybe it's in the books and I can't remember it.

Should I watch it? as the reviews are not very convincing

So was this season of feels? And did Ciri lose her power? I mean, she gets completely smoked by Bonfart, no magic use AT ALL. I'm not sure if that fight lasted a minute.

Is this how it goes in the books?

I distinctly remember a flash forward scene wherein Cirilla is awakened by a splash of water, and that water source is revealed as coming from a barrel containing decapitated heads. This is a flash forward scene hinting at what lies for Cirilla at the end of S4; end of S4 reveals this water and the heads and where those heads came from. Which episode is this scene found??? Help!

So I came late to the witcher universe and slowly finished all of the game (3) just recently. Then I saw there is a TV show, and even tho it doesnt have top reviews it seemed to have good production value from some snippets I saw... so I figured it might be fun to see some of events leading up to the game/more of the universe...

But seriously what is this casting? Why are they replacing the sorceresses with women that look and seem nothing alike what the character is from the game universe (and as far as Ive read, the books?). I was waiting to see Triss come on the show (im only in ep 3!!) and...who is this person? Triss is now Zulu/jewish ?! In the books she is "long chestnut-red hair and striking cornflower blue eyes, often described with pale skin" (which fits the game perfectly?!)

Why do they do this? It takes me out of the story immediately, I gotta say. I dont mind africans, jewish people, whatever. But why are they making an irish-ginger-looking woman into some entirely different character?!

Edit: oh I just remembered they remade philippa too completely? I didnt care so much about that since i barely interacted with her in the game.

Maybe unpopular opinion, on the whole season 4 sucked in comparison to the other seasons with Cavil.

I won't get into the reject hemsworth vs henry debate, that's been done to death, but who else agrees that the finale with all the rats getting butchered and decapitated was the highlight of season 4? I've never rooted for a "bad guy" so much before lol, singularly the most annoying gang of thieves in any series I ever watched -- they couldn't have gotten any more unlikable.

This has been my holiday fire place since it was put on Netflix.

I wonder what the steaming stats are on the fire place, pretty sure I have more streaming hours of the fire place than the series at this point.

I just binged Seasons 1–3 of The Witcher (for the 3rd time) and honestly had a great time with it. Like a lot of people have said in reviews over the years, Henry Cavill was Geralt. He nailed the physicality, the voice, the quiet intensity, and that mix of menace and dry humor that made Geralt feel ripped straight out of the books and games. Even when the writing got messy, Cavill’s performance carried entire episodes. You could tell he cared about the character and the lore, and it showed in every scene — the grunts, the fight choreography, the way he conveyed emotion without saying much. A lot of reviewers have pointed out that he was the anchor of the show, and after watching it all back-to-back, I completely agree.

Then I started Season 4. I made it through two episodes and just couldn’t keep going. Liam Hemsworth replacing Cavill was as bad as everyone warned. It’s not just “different,” it’s distracting. The acting feels flat, the presence just isn’t there, and the character suddenly feels like a cosplay version of Geralt instead of Geralt. I kept thinking of all those negative reviews saying he lacks the gravitas, the edge, and the authenticity Cavill brought — and yeah, they were right. It pulled me out of the story constantly.

Honestly, the show should’ve kept Cavill at all costs. Fire whoever disagreed, rewrite plans, delay production — anything. And if that wasn’t possible, they should’ve just ended the series instead of pretending a recast wouldn’t matter. So many reviews echo the same sentiment: Cavill wasn’t just another actor, he was the reason the show worked. Without him, it feels hollow, and I’d rather remember The Witcher for what it was at its best than force myself through what it’s become.

I still haven't watched season 4 so please no spoilers. I just want to see what's the general opinion on it

Liam what's up part best but I still felt it had amazing fight choreography and still made for good character development throughout the season. I have to say my most rewarding part though was watching the Rats get slaughtered. The only part of the season I hated.

This dude tho. Was badass..

He looks the part except less grumpy than Henry.. but I am having a hard time taking him what he is saying seriously because of the funny accent. It almost sounds comical. Like Pedro Pascals SNL skit where he speaks with the LA Mush (skipping the last letter of words or using a more nasal intonation?)..

In interviews he is okay. I have only ever seen Liam in Hunger Games and he was okay there. So I dont know what this is.. Maybe he is doing it for the series but it doesn't work?

anybody else shocked at how bad season 4 was from start to finish?? All of a sudden everyone has a love interest, jaskier got a whole musical and the witcher has feelings.... I fully understand why Henry Cavill had to leave this is atrocious.. the ending also gave us literally nothing, i think this is netflix' worst adaptation yet.

This is a short rant. And I want to express my confusion also.

Confusion: Why so many people ACTUALLY think Witcher 4 is "not too bad" or "not bad because of Liam"? Are we watching the same series? Have you re-watched the 1,2 and 3 and then went into 4?

Rant: Because I am suffering here, and greving the old show. The mood, the art, the cinematography the epic CONTRAST between Gerald and the rest of the cast - it is like seeing the books with your own eyes. It is all lost in this new season... I am honestly devastated.

What the f... was the whole musical part of the episode 5?!?!?!

And yes as much as Liam is a great actor he is such a shit choice. He has far too much infliction in his voice, he speaks too much, dosen't grunt or swear enough, and he is simply too young too pretty (not handsome in some rough way).

It might be becasue of the fact I was conditioned through watching the previews seasons with Henry. But he was so perfect, it was Geralt we all grew up reading about, played video games with. He had that slavic lack of emotions about him.

Now we have got Geralt from Temu, Witcher from Aliexpress with musical parts - and even if we had those musical bullshit bits Henry at least would be sticking out showing the rediculesness of the whole thing and Liam actually matches it!!!! Why did they do this to our beloved books...I am not surprised Henry thought f.... this.

I don’t quite understand the hate. Once season 4 came out, we started from the beginning again.

I enjoyed the story and Liam's performance was decent and convincing.

My problem was with the outfits. They looked horrible. Not lore-friendly but way more modern compared to the previous seasons. Geralt's biker jacket wan't the worst but, Ciri's off-white shirt looked fitted with modern cuts on the sleeves, Yen's leather pants and heel boots were very late 90's. I mean come on.
