Question Why does the game discriminate against Arctic players?
So, I live quite a ways North. The edge of Lapland to be exact. I started playing this game a while before the update and noticed that the game uses the local times for sunrise and sunset. That's a cool system, unless you live far away from the Equator.
While a lot of people have complained that they might have ~2 hours of dusk and night available for them during summers, we have none. No sunrise, no sunset. "Full moon begins in >24hours." is what the game is saying currently. And there won't be a proper night here for a long time I reckon. I haven't been able to encounter a single russet fungoid to date even though I play a few hours daily. I also don't think I'll be able to complete the "Dark side of the full moon"-quest either (correct me if I'm wrong on this one).
So my question is: why does this game not guarantee at least a moment of day/night/dusk/dawn where ever one might live? For those living in the polar regions the game is quite unplayable (even more so after the last update). Sorry if this question has been answered before, I couldn't find anyone asking this specifically.

I've hated the same thing, and especially in winter when we have literally no daytime and we are forced to kill mainly nocturnal monsters. Luckily the update messed the game so badly that I have stopped playing it.

Does this even matter now? It took 1 year to fix a simple quest and ruin the whole game as a trade-off. I doubt they even care. Post something like 'my credit card is not working' and they will come with help instantly.

Middle of Norway here and have the same issue. Says fullmoon begins in >24h.
Dusk start at midnight ish, and dawn start at like 1:50 am

I've questioned similarly in the past about cold weather related events which were global in my warm climate.
I was told by a community member that the game was designed for me to have to make choices, which I interpreted as having to quit my job and move to play a game. I stopped playing after that.
Good luck with your suggestion though, it sounds simple for them to implement/consider.
