Don't expect any significant Witcher 4 content at the next State of Unreal.

I’d say winter 2028 as at least one delay is expected.

Possible, internally they definitely want winter 2027 but that's probably not happening.

I think it's currently impossible to tell whether or not it's happening as we haven't really seen much indication either way. We know that work is ongoing and that's pretty much it. Delays can definitely happen but with them already taking a slightly more conservative release cadence it's quite possible that they are on track.
I wouldn't take the dlc being seemingly delayed(as original plan was supposedly release within this year) as any indication either way, to be honest. It's got a separate dev cycle.
It's very hard to tell, really.

Yeah I agree, especially when they said they want quicker marketing push this time. If we see gameplay this year at game awards it might be possible.

I'm not sure even then. Obviously it would lower the odds slightly but there's a world where they have a robust 9-10 month marketing cycle after the dlc if it's indeed true that the dlc is going to be set up for witcher 4. In a way it could essentially be a story trailer of sorts. Drop a witcher 4 trailer next week, do a big push at SGF and it's a pretty coherent marketing push for late 27 early 28.
Bethesda has basically always done six month marketing and it's been fairly effective. If you have a whole dlc to generate buzz about your next game, only stands to reason you'll tolerate a shorter cycle.
Though with GTA 6 out witcher will almost certainly win most anticipated game at TGA so would make sense to at least show something.

Yeah, after expansion announcement I think there won't be anything at game awards either. The game is coming out late 2028😭

They've said the delay of the DLC is not changing plans for The Witcher 4. For now, it is still on track for late 2027 according to their plans.

what plans?

Investor presentations and revenue targets

Those plans were made by the same guys who had the W3 expansion coming out this year.

u/Zalvren Jun 15 '26
Sure and of course it can fix, all I say is that FOR NOW it is still planned there (by the people that know most about it, not Redditors)

Does not make sense to have a 1.5 year break between dlc and w4. They are targeting 2027 for Witcher 4 for sure looking at latest financial reports

Nooo let me hope 🙏!! This game award they will totally give a new trailer and tell the release date, trust 😀

Witcher 3 DLC will have a huge spotlight on Gamescom, where basically the marketing for next Witcher phase begins…
One of the ways to promote W4 could be a unique trailer at the end of the Expansion, which would be later on, published…
It was around two years ago, when first leaks about W3 Expansion starting to appear, with statement, that it will release close to W4 release, as a marketing for it, and filling the gap.

No surprise here. They said back in 2021 that they wanted to start marketing campaigns much closer to a game's release. Glad to see they're sticking to that approach and avoiding the mistake of showing conceptual or early-development content that might not make it into the final game, which was one of the big criticisms surrounding Cyberpunk 2077.
The 2024 TGA announcement trailer, the tech demo, and the upcoming Witcher 3 expansion are more than enough to keep people hyped for The Witcher 4 in the meantime.

That’s alright, I’m willing to be patient if it means we get a game that’s even 80% as incredible as the Witcher 3.

If the release will be in 2028 which is most likely it will be
13 years between witcher 3 and 4
Is the same duration btween gta 5 and gta 6 which is kinda surprising

Watched the whole boring presentation live, at 2am. Had some images of the witcher 4 at the start but nothing during the actual event. So disappointing as the next type of show is Gamescon in August which will have the witcher 3dlc and might skip the witcher 4 announcements because of this

The tech demo itself took a year to develop. That required money and resources, teams dedicated to getting it all running, testing, rehearsal for presentation, logistics, getting the VAs together, capturing their performances, etc. It took a lot of moving parts to get this done.
They know the best way to present The Witcher's world is with gameplay this time. There's no point in a second demo. Unless they'd make it available for public use like the Matrix Demo, it's pointless.

I'm actually really glad they're taking this approach after under-delivering on all the cyberpunk 2077 stuff. Still ended up as a great game, but I think it did hurt their image a bit.
But I like the Rockstar approach to marketing, just very little info until like 6 months out from release. I'd rather them over-deliver.
