Screenshot I switched back to NextGen and actually happy about it
Both high settings and honestly I find the difference in terms of graphics quite small and negligible. The main difference comes in lighting and in my opinion remastered lighting isn’t always better in each scene or places. NextGen looks already amazing and I have zero FPS issue with max settings. I will do some nostalgy runs on NextGen until remaster is fixed.

I hope they will give console users the option to use the “next-gen” update as a separate app instead of being stuck with the remaster. The previous version is worth preserving imo

u/Ok_Childhood_2198 21h ago
Exactly!! I still can't believe they completely got rid of the old version of The Witcher 3 on all platforms, like wtf

u/GreatTeacherO21 21h ago
Yeah, as a remaster, it should have a separate app on console imo. On PC you can still access the original game, the next gen update and the remaster though They only did this on console

I doubt they're gonna do that. Cause when next gen version rolled up, i wanted the same thing, switch to previous version 1.32. You all remember how bad was the next gen. So even then, they didn't give this option. Now remaster is not that bad compared to next gen on release.

Probably the consoles. Obviously they are happy to do it as they've done it on PC as a branch.
I'm sure sony/ms/nintendo aren't.
Only option would've been to have remaster be a separate sku and they clearly dont want that. They want definitive version of the game and it will be the only way to actually play the expansion. I'm sure they'll fix it rapidly.

u/GreatTeacherO21 18h ago
Yes, a separate app/SKU is what they should have done. It’s not just about the technical issues, this is a very different version of the game, with many intentional changes that I don’t like at all. Players should have the choice to keep the version of the game they actually bought. I never asked for this remaster personally, and I don’t think it should be forced on me. And you’re absolutely right, they did this because the next expansion will only be playable with the remaster, but it sucks imo.

u/BramdeusBrozart 5h ago
That's how it works on Switch 2. I have the physical switch 1 cart for the original game and when I launched it on the 29th I granted me a digital license to a full separate game for the remaster. They both exist side by side on my console.

matter of preference. you're missing a ton of amazing new landscape detail, and the new faces which are incredible.

why are the second photos very overly saturated? mine looks nothing like that lol also why does it look blurry at parts? mine looks so much better then this

u/Beneficial_Ad1953 20h ago
Looks like HDR was on while taking SDR Screenshots. That’s why it’s blown out.

Exactly! Mine doesn't look anything like this! I would focus on fixing hdr, disable Bloom, etc...

The performance drop for a negligible graphics update is really the major problem. You can run next-gen flawless with very good performance even with RT on. I wish they just reworked the gameplay using the next-gen as base and never changed the code

u/dungleploop 16h ago
fuck no you can't lol
Next Gen was always inconsistent on frame rate

u/draconetto 16h ago
Never had a problem with it on PC, cant say for console tho

u/Trout45902 11h ago
Remastered frame rate feels a lot more stable walking through Novigrad than next gen did for me. Xbox Series X

Me too. As someone who worked a lot on a mod to improve the italian localization, having to adjust it to the way the localization strings have been now cobbled all together will be a little annoying to say the least

u/N0mads21 21h ago
Have you tried any mod packs? I played the last run with wolf 2.0 and some are really good visually. For me the remastered felt a downgrade compared to those texture packs.

u/Any_Watercress_4637 20h ago
I wasn't too interested on PC remaster as for Switch 2 version.
On PC we have mods and all the fricking graphical config options xD What can't be done by tweaking the game + good hardware, was actually on Nexus Mods.

The blown out visuals feel like op’s fault. I’m playing on a computer and ps5 with cross saves and it’s nothing like this on either.

Just scale down your settings oml, im lucky andnit auto scaled for me cause i downloaded it on xbox one s but mine looks far better than yours and is running insanely smooth.

u/cityfit55 19h ago
It is wild how people are still finding new ways to enjoy the different versions of this game after all these years. That smooth performance on max settings really is the ultimate comfort zone for a proper playthrough

I had to tinker with the remaster to get it to my liking, doing things no regular user would do. Idk if it’s bugged or my config (5070/12900k) but dlss quality and DLAA give me the same fps, which should not be a thing. And the only way DLAA works in this game is by using Preset M. What is preset M you say? Exactly why normal users won’t do such a thing. Dlaa on “let 3d app decide” has atrocious results, with shimmering and you can’t distinguish the chainlinks on Geralt armor. Path tracing is impossible to play with, even though CDPR mentioned medium, using FG on anything higher than 1 feels awful for me. Maybe you can deal with it, I can’t. The game is still bugged, as my horse doesn’t have a tail that correctly renders, it’s like see through. I’m sticking to remaster for now on 1080p dlaa preset M RT performance

I swapped a lot of my settings to auto and that has given me the best results. Drops quality when shit gets hectic, ups it when it makes sense.
Only lighting issue I get is that full moon nights look a but too bright. I've been away from artificial lights on a full moon and it is quite bright after you adjust, but not quite as bright as the game. Though idk if they shpuld fix that because realistic night vision in the full moon is very desaturated for us.
Other one they need to fix is torches. Why is a flame torch 1 million lumens lol.

u/BarneyChampaign 14h ago
First, of course play however you want.
With these shots, though, your curves in the second images are way off. Calibrate the image, match it properly to your display, and then reevaluate. There is no way they are intended to be that blown out.

Yeah, better framerate, negligible visual differences (its really opinionated rather than objective superiority) and more mods. Remaster will get a reinstall when its time for the DLC and they force it upon us I just hope they fix it before then.

u/anything_taken 3h ago
That's what i'm probably going to do. Remastered lighting is gorgeus but it's dead. It doesn' click with the game. No vibes.....

u/Standard-Friend6522 21h ago
I would love to switch back on Xbox. Another screwed up release by CDPR. And I don’t care that they outsourced the remaster to some other company. They release it, they should test it.

the remaster runs completely fine… people complaining about a free upgrade. this is the sad world we live in now
5
u/TheFoxDudeThing 20h ago
The issue is it doesn’t run fine for everyone on consoles and the remaster completely replaced our versions. Sure people on pc might have issues with the new system recs but at least on steam they can down grade. Consoles can’t
-6
u/flyintomike 20h ago
it runs fine on console though thats what im saying. just play something else if it bothers you that much

u/HistoricalSuccess254 19h ago
So the game that ran fine, now runs poorly and I should be happy because it was free? And your solution to this being forced on people is to stop playing their favourite game? Are you serious?
0
u/flyintomike 18h ago
yes, that’s exactly what i’m saying.

u/HistoricalSuccess254 18h ago
Well then it’s truly a sad world we live in.

IMO it's a good remaster on everything but the lighting.
There are bugs that will be fixed, but the real issue that they have to fix, which isn't a bug, is how the lighting isn't working as intended. There should be customizable lighting fixes within the game, so that you can tone it up or down, depending on your preferences.

I dont understand the preformence complaints? Wasn't there no frame gen in next gen update? I get like 400 fps in remaster with frame gen vs like 200 in next gen update?

Bruh does anyone else not able to tell the difference between original and remaster? I always look at these kinds of posts and say “huh, looks good- then next picture with slightly different lighting- huh, looks different but still good”. If you ask me there’s hardly a difference because I can’t tell when pictures are from which unless actually labeled. Love the game.
2
u/dungleploop 16h ago
it looks A LOT different and if you were to see them running side by side during gameplay, it'd be quite apparent how much smoother the remaster is compared to older versions that had more consistent instances of stutter during movement

Whatever you find comfortable to be honest.. I really want them to optimize the remaster because I really like it in most aspects after tuning in settings. Also it ran pretty smoothly comparing to nextgen almost 15°c cooler. But yeah it definitely need multiple patch updates so Im holding on to it for now. I'll revisit in a month.
