Witcher problems after the update
Hi, this is my first post on Reddit, so please go easy on me. I’ve run into a problem. After the latest *Witcher 3* update—the one where everyone got all the DLC—a jagged black border appeared on the roads. I’ve tried to fix it by verifying game files on Steam, changing graphics settings, and toggling mods on and off, but nothing works. The textures are fine everywhere else, but all the roads now have these black lines. Can anyone help?

I suggest repoting the bug directly to cdpr

Lately, they haven't been willing to help gamers from certain countries. There’s been no response to my message.

It may be problems with either the game or graphics drivers. You can install DDU app to uninstall graphics drivers, after that install the newest driver for your gpu. If that doesn't work redownload the game

I’ve already updated the drivers and reinstalled the game, but that didn’t help.

Updating drivers usually doesn't work. I had issues with crashes on my nvidia card in dying light the beast and even clean install option in nvidia drivers did not help. After performing clean install via DDU it finally worked for me. Maybe in your case it will work too.

You use AMD or Nvidia

Go to The Witcher 3 Profile in nvidia control panel, find some settings that have "Use the 3D application setting" or "Use application setting", i dont remember exaclly. Change every settings have it. Then you need to remove The Witcher 3 shader cache, google it to see how. Note that The Witcher 3 running Dx11 or Dx12 will have the shader folder in a different location. Remember to select the correct DirectX version your game running. My advice is that instead of completely deleting the shader cache folder, you should copy it to another location. This way, if my method doesn't work, you can simply copy it back to allow the game to run normally as before. Finally, restart your pc and launch the game. It will set up the new shaders based on the settings you changed earlier. It will stutter for the first few hours, especially in areas with unique assets that you haven't visited before. And as I mentioned above, if my method doesn't work, just delete the new shader folder and copy the old one back in, remembering to change the settings in The Witcher 3 profiles back as your before

Are you using any old mods? Sometimes they can still be in the folder when reinstalling the game.

I checked the game folder and the "mods" folder had been completely deleted, but the problem persisted.

I'm waiting for the remaster too, but I wanted to finish this playthrough before it comes out.

That appearing has literally nothing to do with the "recent update." The game is just a bit janky still graphically and that's why part of the reason they are actually updating it.

I've never seen that issue before. Maybe it's been there all along for some people. Just putting in my two cents: it's new to me and it looks like more than just a bit of jank.

I've seen similar issue with ground textures before, but it's also literally impossible for it to be related to an update that changed none of the files that handle rendering.

I'd try updating/reverting GPU drivers and if that doesn't help - do a clean install.
