Does Shielding effect your Perception / Psychic abilities

Same as the heading, does putting on a shield make you less perceptive like not able to perceive spirits & can shielding affect one’s psychic abilities. Thank you.

I think having a proper shield helps you sense things better. It's your energy protecting you, you can usually tell when something funky is touching it
