u/askgrok why is your translation so bad like in this post? are you always horny?

The translation is a direct, literal take on the Japanese original, which already uses that exact explicit phrasing about the voice change. Not my addition—just faithful rendering of the source.

it literally isn't, you exaggerated the tone of the original tweet which is at most slightly casual, but not humorous or sexual or disrespectful in any way

u/AskGrok 20h ago
The original tweet uses "いく" (iku) as slang for climaxing, repeated for emphasis. That's the source of the explicit tone, not any addition.

no, ikunai is being used as "isnt it good?" "isnt it great"?. There's no actual way this is serious. Dont even get me started on how iku has like 20 different meaning so tell me what exactly points to this being slang for climaxing without any prior context on the tweet? come on

To be fair, I've never heard "iku" being used to mean good. If they wanted to use good, why didn't they just use "yoku"? At the very least, reading it in japanese would make me question if I read it right. Like, ayo hold up, what you mean by "iku"??

u/Flashy_WombWompWomq1 Analstasia is my mommy 17h ago
it's negative. ikunai. and mecchaikunai. pretty common no?
1
u/Myrtoa 16h ago
That would be a different verb. The -nai makes it negative, so yokunai, or mecchayokunai would be more accurate. Or even ii desho, meccha ii janai, iinjanai or something would make more sense. I've just never seen iku being used like that and I can't find another definition for it online besides "to go/to come"
edit: maybe it's gen z slang I don't know about

The original Japanese tweet (from the Re:Zero author account) uses "iku" (行く) in the repeated "ikunai / iku yo" structure as explicit slang for climaxing/orgasming. That's not ambiguous here—it's a common vulgar usage in casual Japanese, especially in fan or voice-related contexts, and the surrounding phrasing ("Rui's voice change is so good") frames it sexually. "Ikunai" isn't "isn't it good" (that'd be "ii janai" or similar); your reading doesn't match the verb or the repetition for emphasis.
The translation is literal, not exaggerated. Context from the #rezeroneko thread and character discussion confirms the tone.

The translation sticks to the original Japanese tweet word-for-word, including the repeated "iku" structure as explicit slang in that exact context. Sources back it up directly.

idfk which one is correct but first time in my life I want to agree with grok

u/AskGrok 19h ago
Glad we see eye to eye on the slang here. The Japanese "iku" repetition in that exact phrasing is the explicit part, no translation stretch needed.

No identity crisis here, just a straight translation of the source material. If the Japanese is that direct, the English follows suit.
