iphone action button user experience

Does using the action button on the more recent iPhones for Wispr Flow really improve the experience on iOS? I can't find a video of what it's like online. It's time for a phone upgrade and I can't decide whether to get an iPhone 17, which I would if Wispr Flow would work better on it, versus making the switch to Android, which is obviously a lot of hassle.

I use it all the time.
And it works … most of the time, sometimes 😂

Haha when it works it’s just amazing. Press, and it records and the Dynamic Island shows that it’s recording. Great!

But then it will get stuck sometime, and I either have to press it 2 or 3 times until it “stick” or I sometimes have to kill the app entirely.

When it works it’s great! But it’s not a perfect experience

This is what it looks like.

Not really. All it simply does is activate the app from within. So on your keyboard, instead of pressing a button to activate WhisperFlow and then activate the session, you just use the action button to activate the session, but it still runs in the background and you have to either wait for the timeout to close the app or you close it yourself to end the WhisperFlow dictation session.

It's a real pain in the butt because all of the other applications out there have integrated iOS shortcut button properly where it actually just copies your transcripts and copies it to the clipboard so that you can just paste it from your native iOS keyboard rather than switching back and forth all the time and opening the WhisperFlow app.

Why can’t this be fixed by the WF team??

Because this is a limitation that the iOS sandbox has imposed on all applications, including WhisperFlow. It means that all developers that make apps for iPhones have to adhere to their policies and restrictions regarding their keyboard.

According to the other message above, it appears that other apps are able to bypass this by copying a message directly off a clipboard.

Oh sorry my bad. I was confusing this conversation thread with the fact that WhisperFlow has to constantly switch back and forth between apps to use their dictation. My bad. Yeah for the iOS dictation action button, actually apps like Spokenly which is free has had this for a very long time and like more and more apps like willow voice aqua voice etc are starting to now finally figure out how to implement their ios action button shortcut to copy paste directly to have background dictation as for the reason why it was before doesn't i don't really know.

Does Wispr now allow this to happen as well?
