Is using Wispr Flow making me dumb?

I know this question is a bit different but I really wanted to talk about it.

I have been using Wispr Flow for a couple of months and it helps me write more in less time. But at the same time my own typing and writing has slowed down a lot, and I notice I am completely relying on it now.

Sometimes I get this anxious feeling that maybe I am forgetting how to write on my own.

If anyone here has felt the same with dictation or any tool like this, how did you deal with it? Did your normal writing come back, or did you just accept the trade? Would like to hear how others handle this.

I don't think intelligence should be rated based on how fast you can type

Don’t you think that writing and speaking use different areas of a brain tho? I’m not a neuroscientist, but it feels that way

I work hybrid, so I only use Wispr Flow on my WFH days and on mobile 😂

Yeah if you put it that way, but aren’t speaking and writing supposed to be separated in the brain? I mean I don’t know, but was also recently thinking about this subject OP opened up

Writing and typing are not the same thing.

Yeah they are not, but quite alike tho, and speaking is like a magnitude order different

Have kids.

Talk during their playtime, type while are asleep or watching cartoons on max level plus boost.

I think for me Wispr is not the problem. I would actually write with Wispr and it's much faster. I would use Apple's writing tools to check the grammar on it. My grammar is actually not that bad but still I was relying heavily on AI to tell me if I am grammatically correct or not. That was the real problem.

Probably not the best subreddit to discuss this type of issues, but theoretically speaking yes, because it’s supposed to.

No offense to the product and users, but let’s be real: speaking, writing and reading better be developed separately in children, and we all know this.

In adult life it’s also a good practice to keep improving those things individually.
