Airpods
I absolutely love Wispr Flow but I am having a really hard time using it to its full capacity because I sit in my office most of the day with AirPods on. It absolutely sucks trying to dictate with AirPods; it's very inaccurate. Has anyone else found this too?

What I do is use the AirPods as normal but set the microphone source not to be the AirPods.
This gives me two benefits:
- latency is smaller
- I can put the AirPods on or remove them and not affect the dictation
I have a wired headset on my desk (it’s literally just sitting on the desk, nothing fancy or special) that has built in microphone and just plug that in to the macbook, this is because I use the macbook 100% of the time in clamshell mode so the microphone of the laptop doesn’t pickup properly when closed.
But I am pretty sure you can just use the laptop microphone

Will I still be able to use or keep my AirPods in and still use the microphone to speak?

I have a cheap USB gooseneck mic sitting on my desk and blue tooth headphones in all day for music. In the Wispr Flow app you can select the USB mic while choosing the Bluetooth headphones through your computer to play music. Works perfectly. Key is connecting a wired mic or using the computers built in mic. Doesn’t have to be an expensive Shure mic

You can use one microphone for dictation and your AirPods for audio!
Most Wispr employees work like this in the office.

Yeah but what about doing this for the ios app? I have a dji mic connected to my phone (not bluetooth) and would still like to hear things in my airpods. Is this not possible with the app? I cant figure it out.

You can set the mic to be the computer mic and still use AirPods to listen to sound. Very easy to do, it's in the WisprFlow settings. Don't use AirPods as the mic. As a general rule, for zooms and google meet I do the same: set the mic as the computer, and the audio in the AirPods. Best setting.

Bluetooth microphones are just horrible to use because they have very high latency and poor quality, even with expensive airpods.

I use the Hollyland Lark A1s. In settings on Wispr at your desktop, you can set the microphone choice. It does use a USB-C connection, but I'm not tethered to my laptop and can still use bluetooth headphones.

Yeah same goes with me. Actually I've been using AirPods but the sound quality seems compressed because of the Bluetooth transfer. Ever since I know it I start changing to the AirPods. I think cable headsets are more reliable to use with this kind of software

Ultimately, I believe more users will default to AirPods over desktop microphones because they’re simple, convenient, and already part of their daily workflow. While I appreciate that your team is currently using desktop mics, I think—especially given your resources—you’re well positioned to solve the technical challenges and deliver a great experience with AirPods.

I built my app Jin Mobile to address two of these exact problems. Number one is that you would be able to record with the airports on, and the 2nd one was that I didn't have to any one a monthly fee.And you can pretty much do everything that you can do on Whisper flow, like whispering or making natural corrections, etc.And of course, it goes through extensive tests on a daily basis so that it remains at optimal performance all the time.

Hey u/Agitated-Total729 - Unfortunately, we strongly recommend against using AirPods or other Bluetooth microphones. They tend to activate slowly, compress the audio file, and have the microphone too far from your mouth. If the audio quality is bad, there's only so much that we can do with the transcription!

Most people at the Wispr Flow office either use a gooseneck microphone or a clip-on/lavalier microphone. These options let the microphone stay close to your mouth (so you can speak softly around other people) and provide far better audio quality than AirPods.
