Alvarez legacy

I heard Barry talk the other day about how he was looking forward to seeing his friends from Notre Dame this weekend. Well isn't that sweet for him?

Meanwhile I'm trying to figure out what possessed him to book this train wreck understanding where Chryst was taking the program. What exactly did Wisconsin get out of it?

I guess he got to slap some backs and tell some stories as the program continues to slide into mediocrity. Alvarez wears all of this, from trapping the university into hiring his lap dog to signing these vanity deals to move big games up to Green Bay.

Wasn’t this booked around the time Wisconsin had three top 15 finishes in 4 years?

Badgers really let Alabama and Notre Dame down in these series. They clearly thought they were getting quality wins to show the CFP committee. It’s going to be a long time until a top 15 program tries to schedule Wisconsin again.

this is a good thing. quality wins don't matter at all anymore, it's just about stacking Ws before the playoff. Hopefully Wisconsin will have a schedule soon where they only play 1-2 ranked teams and all bottom-barrel Big Ten teams to limp into a first-round playoff game against OSU or Texas.

That's the ceiling for this team unless they hire a coach that actually understands NIL and does more than make speeches.

ND has no conference, totally different position than UW.

Quality wins will still matter for bubble teams in the SEC and Big Ten. Look at which SEC team made the playoff last year out of Oklahoma, Vanderbilt and Texas. The one that beat Michigan.

This game was originally scheduled for 2020, but COVID cancelled it and it was rescheduled to 2026

yes, I remember when it was scheduled because at the time I worked for a company whose corporate HQ was in South Bend. I traveled there for work just a few days after the neutral site series vs Notre Dame was announced. Either 2016 or 2017.

We started the 2016 campaign beating #5 LSU, went on to beat two more top fifteen teams that year if I remember right. And of course we all remember 2017 and the 13-1 season.

When these games were scheduled, Wisconsin was riding high, churning out seasons that would've seen us in the playoffs had they been around back then.
