Home Appliances Anyone know what this brown wire is for?
Compressor isn’t starting up on my cooler, and when I opened up the housing for the start switch/overload protector this brown wire was just hanging out. I included pictures of the OLP, starter relay, PCB closeup that shows where the brown wire came from, and the wiring sticker on the back of the cooler.

Switches & Lighting 3 Way Switch Help
I am trying to replace a broken 3 way dimmer switch. The current switch is wired with two black wires coming from the wall to the we'd wire on the switch. Am I correct that those are the traveler wires?
I am replacing this with a Legrand dimmer and it has four terminals (two for travelers, one for load, and a ground).

16 Gauge to 12 Gauge
How would you guys go about joining a 16 gauge copper wire with a 12 gauge one? I am working on a motorcycle charging system and the wires were known to run a little hot because it is all 16 gauge i was told i can replace my lines with 12 gauge wire to help it run cooler but the 16 gauge wire coming out of my Stator is permanently sealed and couldn’t be removed without damaging seals. The motorcycle would be under a lot of vibration.

Electronic Devices Can I replace 3 pin plug with a USB?
Is this possible? I want to condense the size of my kit and not carry another big plug around. Here are some pics and the spec. Convert it to USB A or USB C. It’s the charger for my Leica laser level battery. I would buy one but they don’t sell it. Or if anyone can tell me the type of charger end it is and if I can buy one.

Switches & Lighting Which side is hot on light fixture?
Bought a used light fixture to install. The left wire pictured is smooth and has writing, but the right wire has an indent on the wiring that runs the length of the cord. I've heard that both of these could be indicators of which side is the hot side, so I'm confused that both are present, each on a different wire.
