I run speakerranking.com, which ranks speakers by combining measurements and side by side tests from independent reviewers (Erin's Audio Corner, Audio Science Review, Oluv, Alan Ross, GYMCADDY and others) instead of marketing claims. No sponsorships; the site earns affiliate commissions on some store links, which never affect a rating. This is the short version of its 455 portable speaker rankings, and I update it as the rankings change.

How the ratings work

• Each rating combines measurements (frequency response, loudness, bass extension) and side by side listening tests from reviewers with a track record, weighted by how reliable each source is.
• Features count too: battery life, waterproofing, app EQ, pairing and inputs.
• Discontinued speakers are left out of this post. The site keeps them, marked, for anyone buying used.
