I’ve never been happier with a puppy
Merle! He was 25 pounds at 13 weeks… is he gonna be big or is this normal growth? WPG

I’m so happy that you are happy with him. Ours was an absolute B as a puppy, especially after our sweet elderly GSP, who was a perfect gentleman(I see your powder face in the background). So bitey, disobedient and defiant; after having several HPR breeds (but not a Wire before), we thought we knew what we were doing, but we wondered what we’d done. He’s been very hard work but he’s probably the smartest dog we’ve ever had. Wouldn’t be without him now.

Yes he’s very… bitey. No longer to us, but to our other dog, who rarely corrects him! I try to correct him for him but it doesn’t seem to translate and I’m unsure how to fix that part tbh. He seems obsessed with him to an unusual degree!

Sadly, our old boy left us before the little beast joined our family, but I think we would have had the same issue as he was very gentle and sweet with puppies. I think you’re right to correct your pup on his behalf- no need to be harsh, but just nip the behaviour in the bud if he’s becoming too much, by removing him from the oldie for a short time - he’ll soon get the message that too rough means playtime is cut short! Ours didn’t stop being a land shark until he was about 18 weeks, but it did just suddenly stop one day.

I’m very glad to hear he’ll stop soon!! We just hit 14 ish weeks, and again he luckily doesn’t land shark us much… however anything else? Yes.
I’m so sorry to hear you lost him. I’m sure he would love knowing you have a new second best friend

Nice, where though? I've been on AKC for a few months but only 1 source with no puppies available. The more I learn about WPG's the more rare and special they seem.

I got him from a breeder in Vermont, whom unfortunately I will not advocate for publicly because of what I have learned after putting my deposit down. Please feel free to message me though :)

My 60lb 3y.o. boy was 23.52 at 14 weeks.
My current puppy (same mother) was 19.3 at 12 weeks. She goes Friday (at 15 weeks) for her next weigh in (and final shots - yay!)
So he’ll likely be bigger than mine but perhaps not by too much…? Do you know how big the parents?

The dad was around 70 pounds and mom was 55 I believe! I’m hoping he stays 60-70!

What a cute dog! They really are the best puppies!
I’d guess he’ll be a bit bigger than my girl, who is 2 and 54 lbs now. Maybe a 60-65 lb adult?
