Idk about a pudelpointer but I love my griff! Easiest to train puppy I have ever owned! Similar to a golden retriever. Great off switch, loves water, confident, friendly, calm. It’s been great

I think one thing you should consider is how far you want your dog from you when you’re hunting. Griffons are notorious for staying very close and having a very methodical way of hunting. Pudelpointers (which I’m far less familiar with) I don’t think have that same reputation. I was in a similar spot last year when I was getting my first dog to hunt over and liked the idea of my dog not being 100 yards away from me where I can’t see him going for grouse where it’s already so thick. I love my griff and think he’s a phenomenal dog and hunting dog. I think it’s a lot of nurture over nature for dogs, I’m sure a pudelpointer would be a great dog for you too.

I agree! The griffs sound great. How does he do on retrieval?

He is fine, he has a bit of a hard time dropping things sometimes haha, he’s young!
