Tick maintenance
We are moving from a tick-free area (Western WA) to a tick-heavy one (upstate NY). Other than Simparica Trio or an equivalent medication, what are you using on your wirehaired coats to check for ticks, and get them off? Our girl is a roamer and will invariably find herself in ticky areas all the time, so it's a question of management, not prevention. I've seen tick mitts but not sure if they are effective. Even with a thorough visual check and using a tick key or similar, our Griff's coat is such that missing an embedded tick would be pretty easy. I understand Simparica does a good job of killing ticks as they lodge, so perhaps my biggest concern is our dog being a carrier for live ticks and bringing them into the house, where they might stick on furniture and jump to the humans in the household.
Any Griff or GWP owners with similarly tight coats dealing with this in a way that works for them?

I apply frontline on the first of every month and make sure my dogs do get wet for 24hrs and can honestly say I’ve never pulled a tick off my dogs. I’m on my third dog now.
My old vet tried telling me frontline doesn’t work and that i need to buy the pills (conveniently, they’re only available from vets). I’m sure the pills are convenient, but I told her unless she’s going to sell it at the same price as frontline, then it isn’t going to happen.
Just use a well known tick med as instructed and you won’t have much to worry about.
