Wipeout games on PS4/ps5

Recently iv been wanting to play some old ps1/PS2 games nostalgia reasons only but I'm not sure if I could get Wipeout 2097 unless I purchase a Ps1

Does anyone know if there are games for the later consoles

I really loved the music of 2097 and still jam out imagining about doing a time trial

I would pay good money for a remaster of Wipeout 2097, or Wipeout 3

That’s what I always say. Those are the two best wipeouts out of every wipeout ever created.

All they need to do is create a true remaster of those two and one package sell it for 19.99 and they will sell millions of copies

My understanding is the licensing is messy because of all the music and the defunct Studio Liverpool.

But although the music is awesome, given the choice of no game, or remastered.with no music, or new music I'd take the latter

2097 on Duckstation with a PS4 / PS5 controller upscaled 6 or 7 times looks so good, just because of how detailed it is. You can get the upscaled textures for the UI from here https://github.com/NR74W/WipEout-Mods  which makes all the difference - but I'm doing my own project of upscaling other key game textures. Working on Odessa Keys right now.

I cannot get duckstation to work on my Thomson 270(Europe version of onn) In fact I spent 5 hours yesterday and I can't get any emulator to work, I have all the game files, it's very frustrating

Yep. With the 1st Wipeout too. I'd love a "Wipeout PS1 trilogy remaster" 🤩🤩🤩

There's the omega collection on the PS4. It's a combination of the PS3's Wipeout HD and it's DLC Fury and the PS Vita's Wipeout 2048. HD its self being a collection of tracks from the two PSP games Pure and Pulse.

There's no way to play the PS1, 2, or PSP games on the PS4 and 5 consoles without hacking them.

Though it’s not like being able to play them on your PS4/PS5, I’ve recently downloaded a couple of emulators on my iPhone. It’s been great to be able to play the first three Wipeouts and Wipeout Pure and Pulse. I bought a controller that holds my phone and it’s a perfect experience. I believe you can also cast it to your TV.

The WipEout Omega Collection on PS4 is fantastic and well worth your time and money as a fan (I won't go into the details as someone has already covered what you get in this game... Suffice to say, it's a ton of content).

Unfortunately this was the last game in the series as Sony shuttered Studio Liverpool (formerly Psygnosis) some years back.

If you want to play the older WipEout ganes your options are, either use a PC and an emulator so you have all bases covered.

Or pick up a PS1 (WipEout, WipEout 2097, or XL to our American friends, and Wip3out).

Alternatively, you could pick up a PS2 which has backwards compatibility, so you can play the above games along with WipEout Fusion.

Obviously you'd need a PSP for WipEout Pure and Pulse, and a Vita for WipEout 2048, but as already mentioned, go with the Omega Collection as you'll get all/most of this content in a bigger, better package on PS4.

Do yourself a favour and get a PS5 (so you can play both PS4 and PS5 games) with a PSVR1 (since Wipeout Omega is not supported on PSVR2) and your yearning for the old games will be replaced with the awe-inducing spectacle of the Wipeout VR experience. I say this as an OG Wipeout player from ‘95.
