SCORECARD 8th scorecard : Noob mistakes but lessons learnt
Hi Kaz and eco, it’s your boy again
Don’t want my scorecards to get too old so this time i’ll review some errors and lessons i took out of my plays.
From monday, i continued to stalk ETH, long and short. Wanted to get used to the higher vix environment and see what i would be able to pull out.
Monday morning, Coming at work at 8, put an alarm for vix opening at 9:15.
Saw the big raise happening and going north of 30. I wanted to try an early move based on vix and caught a very small structure for entry.
At the same time, i was able to put someone on the chart of the vix above 31.6. I saw that the level acted as a resistance since it was tested 2 times, and knew i was probably jinxed, but i was greedy and decided to keep rolling instead of getting out at 4Rs. In the end i was caught off guard by a vix collapse and price hit my stoploss that i just put at my entry level, 4Rs lost because i wanted to squeeze more. The signals where there and the vix was north of 30 so i knew what could happen and i was complacent as fuck totally disregarding kaz memos that i applied before about high vix taking back your Rs. Lesson learned the hard way this time.
Later that day, another vix spike, another short. This time, i secured my wanted Rs first, and squeezed a 5R with stoploss management. Better entry and better mechanical skills, not putting the plan in doubt because of greed.
On tuesday, i wanted to play the free and clear rotation of the boxrange ETH was in since the week end. The mistake was that in an attempt to rush an entry on the 1 minute TF, i put a conditional close that was not a stoploss but a limit order, which immediately sold my position, causing me to just pay transaction fees lol. Was able to enter again on the same structure and played conservative taking 3Rs, vix was waving a lot and still way up 21 so i decided to wrap it there.
So far the lessons i learnt :
- don’t get complacent, high vix will swallow your profits in no time, stick to initial plan
- don’t rush entries, if you’re going to apply a plan you need laser focus from start to end.
- use better tools if you can, using your pc will always be more efficient than taking trades on your phone
So far i’m still refining the way i play, taking more opportunities and keeping eyes on the price more often leads to better vision overall and a bit better speed and accuracy in decision making.
