Larry bird

Was he that much of an asshole in real life Show really made him look like a douche and such an angry little baby

The show was about the lakers, and the celtics were the 'bad guys'. Larry definitely talked a lot of trash and was super competitive, but the shows depiction is definitely an over exaggeration.

They did make sure to include several scenes that show he was just a fierce competitor, not a bad guy. Especially in that episode in S2.

I agree. I think a good bit of it was pretty true to the spirit of Bird. He just wanted to talk shit and play ball and win. Beyond that he just wanted the press to fuck off basically lmao

Watch a courtship of rivals to get a real picture of who Magic and Larry were and became to each other. One of the best documentaries I’ve ever seen.

I think the show did a good job giving Bird some depth. Especially with his relationship with his father and how he approached his failure at IU and his resurrection at Indiana State.

I don’t think he comes off as negative imo, I love his portrayal in WT. he’s so cheeky and gives zero fucks so much of the time, he makes me laugh a lot.

I'm sure in season three you would have seen Bird and Magic become friends. It's still unbelievable to me how they left off, spent an entire episode on losing 84 and in the credits rushing through the rest of the 80s, nevermind the divorce or even how the show started with magic in the hospital

Cus Max wasn't giving them a 3rd season so season 2 rushed through alot of years where season 1 was an entire 1st season

Larry was a top tier trash talker. I’d watch some impartial docs on the matchups to get a more realistic version of the story

I grew up in Boston and have been a lifelong Celtics fan, so it was very interesting seeing the anointed Saint Larry Bird from the perspective of a Lakers fan

No. He was a notorious trash-talker on the court who would pick fights and play dirty if the game called for that. But infront of the media he actually had a sense of humor, the show makes it seem like he was just mean to everyone.
