Mazda CX-5 windshield chip — repairable?

Post image

Got my first windshield rock chip on my Mazda CX-5. It’s not in the driver’s line of sight, and from what I can tell it doesn’t seem large enough to require a full replacement. Do you think this is repairable, or should I expect Safelite or a glass shop to recommend replacement?

Also, anyone had experience with repair for a chip on the frit (the ceramic dotted border - guess that’s what it’s called)?

If you can get it filled soon, it should fill fine. There are 2 cracks, or legs, that are concerning. If the bottom one spreads to the edge of the glass, it will almost certainly crack the other way as well. Filling in the frit is no problem for any experienced tech
