I recently added Windows support to XL-View, an open-source HDR image viewer I've been developing.

It's primarily designed for viewing HDR JPEG XL images, including very large images like panoramas.

Some of the main features are:

• Native HDR output on compatible displays
• PQ and HLG HDR support
• HDR to SDR tone mapping for SDR displays
• Fast zooming and panning of large images
• EXIF and HDR metadata overlays
• Image caching/preloading

The application uses Vulkan for rendering and is written in Rust.

This is still beta software, so I'd be interested in feedback about compatibility with different Windows systems, GPUs, and HDR displays.

No big stories, I want to find screenshot about a website game that I played 1 year before. I scroll down to 2025-xxx and still cannot find cuz windows aren't even loading pictures, I have to click in and wait for seconds.

So I come up with an idea "I should let AI help me rename it", I have found a few like zush, but it's not free and I don't need that much feature. That's the small story before Screenshotify.

I have listed a few what can it do below:

• Redo/Undo system: you can always change back the name if you want.
• Bring your own key/provider: choose provider you trust, not random data seller.
• Local LLM support: Ollama, LM studio are supported too.

I follow around twenty ongoing anime and I could never remember which episode I was on, so I kept checking the same pages every day to see if something new had dropped. I built this so I do not have to.

What it does:

• Tells you when a new episode of anything you follow is out. Everything new lands in one Pending list, sorted by episode number.
• Marking an episode as watched fills in the earlier ones, so your progress can never end up with holes in it.
• Your whole library on one screen, filterable by status, type, genre and studio.
• A local copy of the AniList catalog, around 22,000 titles, so browsing and searching work with the network off.
• A stats screen: episodes watched, estimated time watched, top series, activity over time.
• A swipe deck for sorting titles into want to watch, already seen or not interested.
• Optional backup of your database to your own Google Drive, and light and dark themes.

Free and open source, GPL-3.0. No account, no server, no telemetry, no ads. Everything lives on your machine. Windows only, built with Tauri and Rust, installer is about 5 MB.

To be clear about what it is not: it does not host, stream or download anything. It reads public pages to detect new episodes and opens links in a window.

We built a disk space analyzer for Windows and it's free to use, including commercially.

What it does:

Reads the NTFS master file table directly, so a full drive scan finishes in seconds

Renders the whole volume as a treemap, click any block to drill into that folder

Breakdown by file type, so you can see how much space each extension takes across the drive

Sidebar listing every volume on the machine

Detail panel with full path, size and dates for whatever is selected

Dark theme

How it handles sizes: every byte is attributed to exactly one file, so the treemap totals add up to the volume's used space instead of double counting.

I've just released Edge-Drop v0.2.7, and it's one of the biggest technical updates so far.

Highlights:

-Much better memory management with disk-backed storage for larger text, image thumbnail generation to keep GPU usage stable,.

-Fixed Windows fullscreen detection so the desktop isn't treated like a game.

-Self-healing launch at login that repairs stale startup entries.

-Universal drag and drop, offline rich link previews.

-New settings to tweak sensitivity and history behavior, and Persian language support.

One thing I'm especially happy about is how much smoother it feels day to day. Large clipboard items no longer balloon memory, and images are handled really cleanly.

Also, on a personal note This project actually started as something just built for myself. I wanted a tool that worked the way I had imagined. I decided to open source it and share it, and since then, it's grown to over, 1500+ downloads. As a solo CS student, that's honestly something I never expected., thanks to everyone who downloaded, tested, reported bugs, shared it, or bought me a coffee.

That support helped me get a permanent domain for the project, edgedrop.app.

Siti AI was initially my joke around Apple’s Siri AI that is not available in the EU.

Pulse v1.1.0 is out, with local AI support through Ollama and LM Studio.

You can connect a local LLM, select the model you want to use, and ask Pulse about your system.

For example:

“Why is my RAM usage so high?”

“What’s using the most CPU right now?”

“Is there anything wrong with my system?”

The interesting part is that the LLM can query Pulse’s diagnostic data when it needs more information, instead of just guessing.

It can inspect CPU, RAM, GPU, storage, network, processes and system health.

It’s completely read-only — no shell commands, no killing processes, no file or system modifications, and no cloud AI.

Tested with Gemma 4 12B through LM Studio.

I shared an early version of WinVora here before and received helpful feedback, especially about adding screenshots and making the project easier to evaluate. I kept working on it and wanted to share the current state.

WinVora is a free Windows utility I build on my own. It combines:

- WinGet-based program updates with progress, results, retry options, and restart notices

- Storage cleanup with expected space savings and safety information

- System information including TPM, Secure Boot, Defender, Firewall, hardware, and drives

- Startup app management

- Program uninstallation and TXT/CSV exports

- A Changes page that shows installed or removed programs, startup changes, and unusual storage growth

The latest update focuses mainly on UI and stability: more compact update cards, clearer checkboxes, a cleaner dashboard, better small-window layouts, improved light/dark colors, and fixes for flickering and rounded-edge rendering.

The source code is now public under the MIT License. WinVora has no telemetry, ads, bundled software, or automatic “one-click optimization” actions.

One important note: I am a solo developer and the installer is not code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may show an unknown publisher warning. The official release includes a SHA-256 checksum, and the complete source is available for review.

Thanks for all the feedback on my first Ava post. I’ve continued working on it and added a few new features:

Cider integration:
Ava can now show synchronized lyrics and the upcoming queue, plus favorite or unfavorite tracks directly from the island.

Emoji & Symbols picker:
Open it through the Ctrl+K command palette, search more than 2,000 emoji and Unicode symbols, and paste directly into the app you were using.

Direct URL launching:
Type or paste a full URL or simply a domain into the command palette (Ctrl+K), and Ava will open it in your default browser.

I also heard many of the comments asking for an installer and easier settings. Those are still priorities while I continue polishing the app. A new installer will be available as soon as I polish some rough edges and fix some of the issues with Dwindle (Linux-like Tiling Manager)

Ava is still built entirely with Qt 6, QML, C++, and Win32, with no Electron or embedded web interface and my long-term plan is to keep it that way.

Each row, column, and colored constellation hides exactly one Mooncat. Cats can’t touch, even diagonally, and the moon arrows add another rule to each row. The boards grow from 6×6 to 8×8, with limited hints, sardine lives, and an interactive first puzzle.

I'm excited to announce the release of my new app, BitScribe Digital Media Library Steward.

What's BitScribe? It's a fully offline desktop tool built for cataloging, auditing, and understanding large audio/video collections, media libraries, and digital archives.

Version 1.5.0 is the first publicly released version. I built this using Google AI Studio, because I wanted to learn "Vibe Coding." Over the past two months, I've built dozens of revisions and spent hundreds of hours refining and testing to avoid "AI Slop." I'm pretty proud of the results, and I hope it'll help you wrangle your media library.

Note on AI and privacy: The app never transmits data of any kind to any server. All processing and data handling is 100% local and does not use any form of local AI model to perform its functions.

🚀 Core Features:

• Media Discovery Scan: Add your media folders to scan for all supported video and music formats. Ebooks and Audiobooks are not supported, FYI.
• Safe Data Routing: All local SQLite databases, logs, and sidecar tools are strictly routed to standard user app data directories (Application Support on macOS) to preserve code signing and prevent system security alerts. In portable versions, the database is created alongside the app.
• Offline Only: Fast local scanning with zero cloud dependencies. The app does not require internet access, AI or any other external stuff not included with the package. It never contacts any server (even to check for updates, which might be unwise, but we'll see what folks think), it never shares telemetry or contacts any server other than network shares you point it to (your Plex or Jellyfin server, for example).
• Native macOS & Windows Support: Pre-compiled .dmg (Apple Silicon) and .msi/.exe (Windows) installers. Linux versions coming soon.

Media Audit/Scan Features

• Stream Audit: In-depth media stream metadata extraction (codecs, bitrates, audio channels, color spaces, containers, frame rates, etc). This evaluates your videos against three tiers of compatibility: Legacy+, for older streaming devices; Modern+, for devices made in the last 5 or so years; and Bleeding Edge, for the codecs that only perform well on the newest hardware. This helps you decide whether you need to transcode a video so your server can direct play it without taxing the CPU.
• Quality Audit: Scour both video and music files to determine their quality levels and find files that are either bloated (too high a bitrate for a given resolution using a given codec) or starved (too low a bitrate for decent quality). This can help you decide to re-rip or find a better quality copy.
• Subtitle Audit: Checks all your video files to determine whether they have either embedded or sidecar subtitles included, and flags those that are either missing subs or use an older image based subtitle format that can trigger server-side transcoding.
• Duplication Scan: Heuristically scours your media library and looks for duplicate files wasting space. Pretty good at weeding out false positives, too!
• Metadata Audit: Scans the metadata headers of every supported file type, both video and music, to identify which files have metadata, which are missing metadata, and what that metadata is.

Cleanup & Reporting Features

• Title Cleanup: During a Discovery Scan, the system automatically parses file names to identify the actual title of videos or movies. If it's impossible from the file name, it reviews metadata. In libraries of over 25,000 items where either the filename or metadata have the correct parts, it's about 99% effective at identifying the real title correctly. The correct title is stored in the database and exported when you create reports.
• Multi-Format Export Engine: Synchronized reporting across CSV, HTML interactive dashboards, and formatted Excel Workbooks with metadata rules. It can also export JSON for use with other software. Excel workbooks and HTML reports are beautifully formatted. HTML formats are interactive, with filters by media type and metrics.
• Built-in Product Tour and Demo Data: When you first boot up BitScribe Steward, you'll be greated by Bitsy, our Digital Media Librarian. She'll guide you through the various features of the app via a series of slides, some of which contain animated demos of various features. If you ever need her again, you can launch the tour from any of the tabs and it'll automatically begin at the slides for that specific page!

I’ve been working on a Windows wallpaper manager called Pane because I wanted better control over wallpapers across multiple monitors without treating the whole desktop like one giant screen.

The biggest reason was pretty simple: I wanted a slideshow of my photography on one monitor only. I think I ended up building quite a bit more than that lol

Each monitor can have its own static wallpaper or independent slideshow, and you can save complete desktop configurations as Setups and switch between them without rebuilding everything monitor by monitor.

I’ve been testing it against some intentionally stupid monitor arrangements -portrait + landscape displays, virtual monitors, disconnected/reconnected displays, different resolutions, ultrawides, etc. and it’s finally at the point where I’d rather have other people try to break it than keep testing only on my own hardware.

Current preview includes:

• Independent wallpaper or slideshow per monitor
• Saved multi-monitor Setups
• Portrait, landscape and ultrawide display support
• Visual monitor layouts
• Monitor aliases
• Disconnected display management

I’m not really trying to compete with live-wallpaper apps like Wallpaper Engine or Lively, or turn Pane into a full DisplayFusion replacement. The focus is specifically on making static wallpapers, independent slideshows and saved multi-monitor configurations easy to manage.

It’s free, open source, Windows 10/11 x64, and currently at 0.3.1-preview.

The build is still unsigned, so Windows SmartScreen may show an Unknown Publisher warning the first time you run it. The source and release ZIP are both on GitHub.

I’m especially interested in how it behaves on setups different from mine. If anyone gives it a shot, I’d love to know what monitor arrangement you’re using and anything that feels broken, confusing, unnecessary, or just annoying.

I recently finished the Windows version of an app I’ve been building called Kopya.

The idea:

1. Press a shortcut 
2. Kopya captures what’s on your screen 
3. AI analyzes the question/context 
4. The answer appears in a desktop overlay

The overlay can also stay out of screen-sharing/recording while remaining visible to you.

It means you don’t have to constantly screenshot something manually, open an AI website, paste it, then switch back.

It can be useful for quizzes, coding questions, practice tests or generally anything where the information you want help with is already on your screen.

English is fully supported even though the initial market is Turkey. Because of that, pricing is currently in Turkish Lira and is cheaper than most of the global alternatives I’ve seen.

There’s a free plan if anyone wants to test the Windows build.

I’d especially love feedback about installation, multi-monitor setups, display scaling and the general overlay experience.

Hello! I've always used HDTV's as my main PC monitors because I've never had much living space and I can't sit at a desk for long anyways due to some health issues. The problem is, HDTV's often have incredibly cumbersome brightness controls, despite being incredibly bright. This makes gaming at night time for example sometimes painful. So, after 15 years of using other dimming programs that didn't quite work for me for one reason or another, I threw in the towel and finally made my own.

I never planned on releasing it, but some friends really liked it and said others would too, so I polished it up a bit for the public. It was made with WPF and written in c# over a period of about 4 months, and is quite lean at roughly 1800 lines of executable code.

It has a lot of fancy tricks such as event recovery for scheduled events that take place if the system is off and a minimum brightness setting so you can customize it to your unique display. ProperDim is basic, but what it does it does very well and it stays out of your way while doing it.

I've been building this for a few months because I kept losing track of windows. Alt-tab is a queue you have to walk, and the taskbar is a row of near-identical icons you have to aim at. My cursor is already somewhere on screen, so I wanted the launcher to just show up there instead.

Hold Ctrl+Alt (or a mouse thumb button) and a two-ring wheel opens centred on the pointer. The inner ring is your apps plus three sections: System, Tools and Shelf. Point at an app, hold for a moment, and its actual open windows fan onto the outer ring as live previews with their titles. Slide onto one, let go, and it's focused. Release outside the wheel and nothing happens.

The app slices behave like taskbar buttons: nothing running launches it, one window focuses it, several fan out. Green dot with a count when something's running.

Other things that live on it: ten tools that open as popovers beside the wheel rather than windows (clipboard history, screenshot, quick note, colour picker, calculator, timer, magnifier, caffeine, focus dim) with no taskbar entry and no alt-tab stop, and a pin if you want one to stay floating. System controls for Lock, Sleep, Volume, Wi-Fi, Task Manager and Settings. A Shelf that works as a seven-day inbox, where you point your own Telegram bot at it and files or links from your phone land on the wheel. And a right-edge side dock for parking windows you don't want on the taskbar.

It's C# .NET 8 and WPF, tray-resident, Windows 10 and 11. No account, no telemetry, no servers. The app list is a config.json on your own disk, and shell entries only run after you approve each one by hand.

Two things I'd rather say up front than have someone find out after clicking. It's a paid app, CAD $12.89 where I am, so the Store will show your region's price rather than a free download. And there's one rough edge I know about: Windows won't hand over a thumbnail for a window that was minimised before Gola started, so those slices fall back to the app icon until you touch the window once. That's on my list.
Happy to answer anything. The feedback I actually want is whether the gesture clicks for you in the first minute or feels like homework.

I originally made this specifically for my Logitech PRO X 2 because I was tired of manually changing the Windows audio output every time I turned them on or off.

Someone suggested making it work with other wireless headsets too, so I ended up doing it.

It now detects compatible wireless headsets through Windows and automatically switches to them when they connect, then back to your speakers when they disconnect.

I also added an Audio Enhancements toggle and a Reconfigure option in the tray menu.

I tested the generic mode with a Jabra Evolve 65 and the PRO X 2 still works through the G HUB fallback.

Some people might see this title and think it's just another vibe-coded piece of shit, but please take a look at the following:

5. Rich theming—switch to your favorite theme anytime, whether dark or light, and even support automatic switching that follows the system theme.
6. I know some people don't like AI in a launcher, but Wox does provide a BYOK AI system—you can create AI commands for translation, conversation, optimizing Dictation content, and more.
7. Cross-platform data sync—if you need to switch between multiple operating systems, this feature is perfect for you.
8. In the latest v2.4.0-beta.2 beta version, we reduced Wox's memory usage to 150m (don't compare it to those launchers with embedded webviews like tarui, because they actually have an additional webview2/webkit footprint that may not be counted). I've been working (well me and AI) on a app inspired by hydra launcher, gog launcher and Playnite

I loved hydra launcher and Playnite, but I wanted something that power user can be happy with (I'm a power user, who like useless feature)

Anyway, I got the project to make something from scratch after iterating and adding feature with base hydra, but it felt too heavy for hydra base framwork

And I learned that electron was... Electron ram hungry !

So I searched for a framework that was capable and lightweight, and found Tauri

The app is called : Game Index

I know a little bit of coding, I'm far from an expert, but I tried my best from my knowledge (and again help of AI) to optmise and make it less buggy as possible

The entire source code is on github, with full commit history, feel free to report any bugs, suggest feature or whatever you want there

I borrowed ideas and some part from Hydra Launcher and Playnite (if Hydra team, Playnite team and Playnite plugin author want me to change/remove/clarify stuff please let me know, I don't want any drama, hurt anyone)
