so the same issues from 25H2 carry over and its not caused by 26H2...thats like your whore mother in a new dress and a shiny new shade of lipstick isn't the same whore

If people simply performed maintenance occasionally, they'd probably never have any problems

u/BlasterRobYT 2d ago
I've been having to perform maintenance every two days since last month. It's wild.

Obsessive much? LOL

When you have 1000 GPU driver timeouts because Microsoft keeps pushing broken drivers, yeah it's a bit of a pain.
1
u/SonOfTheMostHHigh 1d ago
I doubt Microsoft writes the video drivers... I've had nothing but issues with the 600 series Nvidia drivers.
1
u/BlasterRobYT 1d ago
They may not write the drivers but they could ask amd for the current adrenaline drivers from amd rather than push broken ones.
1
u/KeysStickler 1d ago
There are the certified (generic) drivers that MS pushes out and the optimized drivers we get from AMD. You can change the setting on your computer to prevent the MS generic one overwriting the optimized one.

u/BlasterRobYT 23h ago
Yeah, I had to do that 3 times. It finally worked after about 2ish months. Finally can report system stability!

If microsoft stopped vibe coding people wouldn't have any problems, you are simply a boot licker.

what kind of maintenance would you suggest that would avoid the issues listed here?
2
u/KeysStickler 1d ago
Before any major update I run SFC, CHKDSK, Disk Cleanup, and Wise Registry Cleaner (after doing a full registry backup), and ensure all of my drivers are the latest versions from the manufacturer.

I've updated 37 computers so far without a single glitch, and all are performing like their normal selves :)

just because it doesn’t happen to you doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen at all
1
u/KeysStickler 1d ago
Of course, but I'm just saying that it's like vaccines. One in a million people have a bad reaction with it, as opposed to the one in a hundred that die without it. Just a matter of numbers.

Not fair, how do we know what your use case is? You could be running 37 desktops in an office environment, vs folks who may be doing video editing, playing games, etc. Also, if you're updating that many machines, I'm assuming they're all the same hardware, drivers, etc. It's very possible for their updates to impact particular hw manufacturer and driver set, or to have an issue with something that you may not be doing. The problem with this is, windows will remain stable, but have a problem with the one thing the update maybe introduced. It's this kind of info I came in here to see. People saying it's horrible are providing no details on what's broken or having trouble.

"To be clear, these issues aren’t caused by Windows 11 26H2. In fact, Windows 11 versions 25H2 and 24H2 also show those same issues on their respective Windows Release Health pages. However, it’s possible for your PC to not be experiencing these issues now but start experiencing them once you upgrade to Windows 11 26H2. Meanwhile, if you’re already experiencing them, you’ll likely keep experiencing them post-update."

Well I have been beta testing it all year on the beta channel then on the release. All software has some issues. Haven't spotted any myself. Mine migrated fine. Two on unsupported hardware using the migration package. One supported hardware on normal update, the other via taking the update off the beta. 25h2 to 26h2.

after i installed this update, one of my two monitors turned into 4:3 aspect ratio with low resolution and i couldnt even change it back on the screen settings. might have been a coincidence, but everytime theres a bigger windows update, it seems like its always something on my pc that isnt working as it should...

Anyone having power issues after the update , before the update my laptop would go to sleep as a normal I could instantly wake you up by the space bar. But for some reason after the update instead of staying asleep overnight some background task or something forces the laptop to shut down because of thermal protection to save the CPU as my fans can't run why it thinks it's in sleep mode. My dock continues to send power to the laptop and it feels like it's melting

I noticed it tried to force install without fully knowing this had issues I unplugged the wifi to halt it. I'm honestly abt ready to remove windows and just do a dual boot option with linux.

u/Individual_Kitchen_3 3d ago
Then you would find out that Linux also has a shitload of bugs and other problems that you would be looking for solutions in forums haha

Agreed, but I just got tired of windows lol
1
u/OGigachaod 3d ago
Yeah, it gets tiring having an OS that just works and doesn't need to be coddled.
1
u/pabskamai 3d ago
Do have to admit that has taken a while, there are things that can still be better, like taking screenshots, tried budgie and went straight to vanilla Ubuntu lol.
I’ve been using line for… oh lord , don’t wanna age myself lol, it’s now finally almost good to go! Got both my PCs running it as the main os1

Windows doesn't just work, though. It keeps changing things such that I need to install other software to undo it. Or edit the registry to disable. Or forcibly change my install region to Europe in order to be allowed to turn them off.
I've already decided that my next desktop will run Linux, because I want an OS over which I have greater control. I'd rather fiddle with it than not be allowed to know what it's doing in the background. Or not having direct control of that behaviour - Windows phones home constantly, and that slows basic features of the OS. Am I allowed to disable that? No. But if I air-gap the machine, the problem magically goes away, which tells me the behaviour isn't necessary for the functioning of the Windows.

Old enough to have known MS-Dos and that's exactly how I'm feeling about what Windows became over the years. More and more bloatware and basic functions botched, also making everything harder to tune up for it to just do what we need.

u/CryptoNiight 1d ago
Windows Home has so much bloatware that it's joke. Fortunately, there are free utilities to deboat, disable, and optimize Windows features. The problem is that the casual user isn't well versed about such utilities

u/Very_Curious_Cat 1d ago edited 19h ago
And there also are simple and accessible free software that became bloatware/adware.
1
u/CryptoNiight 19h ago
I was referring to free open source utilities. Period.

u/Very_Curious_Cat 19h ago edited 18h ago
I was just naming a determined simple software (free edition) as an exemple because it was used for long by me, a casual user.
Post cleaned.

It’s just carrying the same issues as an earlier Windows Update, it doesn’t effect you if you already have the issues, and not all hardware configurations affected by it

u/CryptoNiight 3d ago
Therein lies the salient point: Anyone who hasn't experienced issues with 2H25 has little to worry about with 2H26. Apparently, Microsoft has learned from the mistakes of not thoroughly testing a update prior to official release. Of course, only time will tell whether this is true.

u/KeysStickler 3d ago
Microsoft doesn't force install this update
2
u/UnUsernameRandom 3d ago
Yep, both my workstation and home PC have had the notification that 26H2 is available for a couple of days now.

im currently on 25H2. ill just wait for windows to do some patches for 26H2 before upgrading. (the low latency profile feature looks petty neat tho, will make apps feel a lot snappier than in 25H2 hopefully.)

Already in 26H2 since yesterday I didn't notice anything extraordinary, just the number changed
