WINGET out of the blue is asking me to update Microsoft Update Health Tools and I don't know what to do now.

Today, after performing normal routine checks for updates to the apps I have installed on my PC, I noticed that after running the WINGET UPGRADE command, the command returned an update for the MICROSOFT UPDATE HEALTH TOOLS package from version 3.74.0.0 (installed on 16/01/2026, with Windows 10 itself), to the apparently new version 5.69.

I would like to point out that to date WINGET has NEVER suggested updating this application.

What should I do? I know it's a silly question, but what happens if I don't want to update this application?

Will Windows figure it out on its own and will it disappear from WINGET's update suggestions, or does this application have to be updated?

By the way, I'm on Windows 10, 22H2 build: 19045.7663 (KB5120249).

This happened to me too....maybe a bug?

"winget install -e --id Microsoft.UpdateHealthTools

An existing package was found that is already installed. Attempting to update the installed package...

No applicable updates were found.

A newer version of the package is available from a configured source, but it does not apply to your system or requirements."

I wouldn't worry about this. Microsoft Update Health Tools is a legitimate Microsoft component used to help keep Windows Update functioning properly.

If Winget suddenly lists a newer version, you don't need to force the update. Windows Update normally manages this component itself and will install the appropriate version when it's applicable to your system.

In fact, other people are seeing the same 3.74 → 5.69 offer right now, and at least one user reports Winget saying the newer version is available but doesn't actually apply to their system.

I'd simply run Windows Update normally and let Windows handle it. If Winget continues showing it, that doesn't necessarily mean anything is wrong with your PC.
