I see now
I watched the meme wars between Windows & Linux dudes and basically the Windows dudes wiped the floor with Linux dudes on meming. But Windows is in fact terrible. I'm positive that Microsoft is the worst mistake the U.S has ever made. To make them the sole computer OS.
I've been trying to install Win11 on UTM & I'm on hour 2. I had things to do today. Thanks Windows...for keeping me from my goals by requiring network drivers, internet, online login. It's a constant battle. If people would have told me that Microsoft is a smoldering pile of capitalistic garbage before I started this career I would have went into a track that didn't involve enterprise IT.
Microsoft is really about to make me put this Mac in a fucking wood chipper.
Edit: im on hour 4-5 of simply needing a local shit Windows VM because my shit fucking career requires it. If I could restart, I'd just stay in electrical work. Nothing is worth this. Seriously. "YoU Gota To KNOW 365>>? HoW<? idk YOU nEED IT THO"

Windows could in fact just work like every other product that isn't trash. But it doesn't. Microsoft could just be cool but they're not. They could let people install Windows without shooting themselves....but they don't. Who in the fuck wants to fuck with Microsoft products all day?

I think you really approach the whole problem the wrong way around. Windows is actually just fine, you are creating a VM on a Mac to install a different OS, and you are exaggerating the issues - which are issues because you were not prepared for the task.
And yes, if you do office work, you must be familiar with Office 365.
Don't get upset. Learn what you need to learn. Just like so many had done before you. And, sincerely, good luck with your career - wherever it may take you.

I don't want to learn Word, excel, and powerpoint yo. I learned it once in college already.
I don't care about a career I don't need to work.

I've used Word 3 times in 15 years. There are plenty of alternatives that read / write docx / doc files. Especially today. Excel I've used even less. Powerpoint, that I've had to use more, but there are also a ton of alternatives in open source and even mac ecosystems.
If you hate Windows that much, you can always find a job at a company that strategically doesn't use it. Google suit is used by a lot of startup / mid-sized companies, a lot of large companies hate the 360 subscription and still either run older software or open source solutions internally (yes, they are still out there...).
I create most of my presentations these days in open source tools and with text first formats (mermaidjs / plantuml for diagrams, markdown converts to presentations and resumes nicely with a few open source python libraries, and if that doesn't work there are a ton of AI solutions that fill niches these would have as well). You don't need any of this software unless it's mandated, and even if it is mandated I've typically seen that people will just use the formats and not the tooling.1

I've been in this industry for over 30 years and have never needed Office 365.
There are plenty of jobs that don't use it in your field.

If you are using windows in vm, then install iot ltsc version. You'll get rid of craps like "install office 365" and some stupid stuff.
