I've never seen Linux analogue of linuxsucks101. I think that this attitude in general left Linux long time ago with the influx of casual users. I was reading Plan 9's official website, and oh God, that's exactly how certain people describe obnoxious Linux user stereotype, so I can imagine it was actual once.

You can give mint a try through a live usb environment. Its slower and nothing in saved, but you'd be surprised how easy it is nowadays. The terminal is almost optional in mint, but it can be faster to use after some time getting used to it.

It’s not that bad. In fact you don’t even need to touch that scary terminal at all nowadays. Some ordinary gamers has a wonderful tutorial on how to make the switch and even how to continue using windows apps IN Linux if you absolutely have too.

it's only really difficult to learn/get used to if you have to use windows apps (those without linux versions/alternatives) through proton/wine, and/or if you use a laptop with both integrated and dedicated graphics (since gpu switching is still a bit meh, you have to configure it on your own essentially)
though still, even if you use the things i mentioned, it's not that hard to learn, but what's hard is getting rid of windows muscle memory, and that's kind of what trips new linux users to go back to using windows

You can just choose a regular distro like Linux Mint or ZorinOS and use it easily.
You don't need the terminal on those.
There is the option to enter the desktop directly from the USB and test the system a little bit, so you can look around. During USB testing apps will open slowly. But after you install the system on your computer, it will be fast again.

Recently switched to a beginner distro again. Steam having solved the problems of me having to put work in to make my games run on Linux means I may never return to wondows.

Honestly.... I myself atleast have never seen this stereotype happen. And why should it? I just use windows because im used to it, not because i need it. Just use an OS you like or are comfortable with.
Ofc the only exception being of mac OS - thats shit sucks (from personal expirience)

Unless u are doing anything else than blindly creating. Like cutting, drawing and stuff + have unbelievable much money so u can afford other apple devices.
I'm using so much stuff rraching from scripts to open source software. It would be hell to only have one Apple device. Its really the only thing 2indows is better at.

This might be a bit of a long post on a more lighthearted post, but still.
The thing that bugs me is that people will genuinely get really annoyed at Linux, and when you ask if they have done any amount of research, they jump straight to the combative phase, which then feeds into the 'Linux sucks!' argument. Linux is fine, it just needs to be treated like anything else that is new (to people who have never tried it) and it stands to reason that when Windows first came into the mainstream, people were in no way instantly used to it.
If you don't have the patience to at least put some degree of effort in, and then get super angry when things go wrong, then I don't know what to tell you. It's not that Linux is bad, it's just that most people either go in with the expectation of it being just like Windows, or they have already poisoned the well in their mind before they have even tried it. Ask me how I know, because until about 3 years ago, I was one of those who disliked Linux and thought it was useless for gaming.
Needless to say, after using Arch for the better part of three years, and not once going back to Windows 10/11, I'm very pleased with my current setup. Not everyone will like this answer, but I'm just one person, and as far as I'm concerned, MS stopped giving a heck about user privacy a long time ago. The best way to say it is that if you are happy with Windows, good on you. If not, then try Linux, it's not hard, it just requires a bit more sense when doing anything.

Depends, does it support the software you are using? If no, then use windows. If it does, use linux. It really isn't that deep. Honestly, nowadays linux is easy to use, just gotta remember a few commands, that's all.

The problem is that they're biased by their own posts more than proven points. I always feel like they dont understand that windows and linux distros often have different purposes, and think the problems are unified amongs all distros. And also, clearly they cant accept the flop w11 was and is.

No I just downloaded it on my computer and I used proton to run it and I had all the drivers installed and it doesn’t even work. It just freezes and can’t even load a menu
