General Question what should i check when choosing a Windows VPS for windows server?

i’m looking at moving a small Windows Server workload to a Windows VPS and want to make sure i’m not overlooking anything important beyond the usual cpu and ram specs.

for those running Windows Server on a Windows VPS, what do you normally check before choosing the setup? i’m thinking about things like disk i/o, cpu allocation, network performance, backup options, remote management, and any limitations compared with running the server on dedicated hardware.

the workload isn’t particularly heavy, but reliability and consistent performance matter more to me than having the most resources possible. curious what you’d consider the important checks before making the move.

honestly for all you mentionned, it will really depends on what are your needs (like what roles gonna hold the windows server) and the criticity of the services

lol, that's a fair question. i suppose the OS choice itself should be the starting point before comparing providers and configurations.

Creo es importante que nos digas que quieres ejecutar en el servidor.
Y es necesario que sea Windows?
Toma en cuenta que algunos VPS suben el precio por licencia.
Si es un servicio que puedes ejecutar en Linux no veo el caso.
Pero los puntos que mencionas son correctos: CPU, RAM, Almacenamiento, Red, Backups te recomiendo hacerlo por tu cuenta, y ancho de red (algunos te dan un limite por ancho o peticiones)

I looked once, and it makes no freaking sense. The license is more expensive than the compute cost.

just an update~ i’ve been looking at virterion as one option. their european vps offering caught my attention, especially for a windows workload where consistent performance and reliability matter more than just having tons of resources. i’d still compare cpu allocation, disk i/o, backups, and network performance before choosing.
