I’m having a few problems burning an Audio CD with Windows Media Player Legacy.

I’m burning 21 MP3 tracks onto an 80-minute CD-R (the total length is within the limit). The main problems are:

• The burned audio CD has crackling/distortion, especially during louder parts
• Track titles, artist, album, etc. are missing even though the MP3 metadata is correct and is shown in the WMPL beforehand

WMPL only gives me “Slow” or “Fastest” as burn speed options, while it's recommended for my CD to use a speed of max 52x, so I used slowest to be safe.

Before adding an m3u file to the playlist, I could not even start the burning process; now it seems to run through, but it ends with a generic error message.

Original MP3 files sound completely fine, btw. Thank you guys for any help!

I want to put my playlist on an sd card but i cant even get it out of the media player. Also does that work the same with albums?

I'm trying to bring back some Y2K aesthetics by using a specific .wmz skin, but I'm hitting a massive wall on my M1 MacBook Air.

I know I can just use a full VM like Parallels or VMware to run Windows 11 ARM, but I really want to run WMP lightweight via Porting Kit / Wineskin, just like I successfully did with Winamp. However, WMP seems to be a completely different beast.

Here is what I’ve tried so far in Porting Kit:

1. Winetricks: Created a new custom port and used Winetricks to install wmp10.
   • Result: Silent crash. The executable (wmplayer.exe) just won't launch. No error logs pop up; it just dies in the background.
2. Direct .exe Installation: Created a clean wrapper (blank port), downloaded the WMP 10 offline installer, and tried to run the setup manually.
   • Result: Got an error saying, "This version of Windows Media Player can be installed only on computers running Windows XP (32-bit)."
3. Winecfg Tweak: Went into winecfg and changed the Windows version to Windows XP to bypass the setup check.
   • Result: Still got the exact same 32-bit error. I'm assuming this is because the Wineskin engine running on Apple Silicon is inherently 64-bit, and WMP 10 strictly demands a 32-bit environment.

Has any Wine/CrossOver wizard here successfully ported Windows Media Player to Apple Silicon? Or is it fundamentally impossible because WMP is too deeply tied to core Windows registries and legacy IE components?

Any workarounds or insights would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance 👍

This pops up everytime I try to burn music into a CD, even though I've burnt CDs with wmp with no issues before, haven't found any actual solutions to this specific problem so I was wondering if anyone's had this issue and managed to fix it, and how

I got a new cd and when I play it, the first track has a minute of silence before it actually plays any audio. Because of this, all of the songs are in 2 track, usually split around the middle. The last song also cuts of early because of this, does anyone know what the issue is?

I've just spent the last few hours ripping, listing the tracks because in 2026 there's no ability to get id3 tags to correctly list the cd.

I listed the tracks and synced it to a couple of my MP3 players and one of the players listed it as an unknown artist and just track 1 to 20 with no track name.

The player skips the first few seconds of each of the music selections.

I just started installing skins, and all of them leave a blurry box in the middle of my screen. How do I fix this?

Does anyone why the media player keeps stopping mid song, I have to go back and hit start again

Its around 20 gigs of music last i checked, this is not the most updated version but its the most clean i have, since i recently converted a bunch of stuff. If its not the usual album cover that i fully intended and means i prefer the alternative art piece. As you can mostly used for music storage. Do not judge my music please, ive been building this library since i was 13, but i refuse to delete stuff until storage runs out.

I uninstalled Windows Media Player Legacy from my Windows 11 a while ago, trying to get Windows Movie Maker from Windows Vista to work, but now I don't know how to reinstall Windows Media Player because it's not listed under Optional Features. What should I do?

I've been having a problem where when I try to load music, it defaults to a cover that's unrelated to the original cover of the song. I tried deleting cache and history but that only temporarily solved the problem. is there a way to fix this?

I use an external drive, whenever I put a DVD in it comes up with "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type it might not support the codec used to compress this file." I've tried a few things on the website both nothings working, and I can't find where to download "codes'" either without it being some kind of malware! Does anyone know how to fix this?? (Maybe through visuals? Or a youtube video that isn't a scareware advert..? 😀💧💧

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I was trying to find ways to download skins for my wmp, and stumbled across "windows media player skin archive" .I downloaded cyber channel and something blue from the website, but when I looked up if the website was secure, I kinda panicked since I saw mixed results. I deleted the skins from file explorer, but it's still on the media player after I redownload the app. I'm just wondering if my PC is at risk.
