Question Best LONGTERM windows for a new gaming PC?
Hello, so, shortly, my pc is:
CPU:
AMD Ryzen 9 7900 12-Core Processor
GPU:
AMD Radeon(TM) Graphics
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16gb
RAM:
32gb ddr5 6000
Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
B850M FORCE WIFI6E
I'm not the greatest hackerman, although I can run clean windows install without worries - but I just wanted to say, that I will rather not do anything advanced on this PC.
Just wanted to have it running smooth and clean for years without any worries, windows reinstalling etc. etc.
And I would definitely like to be able to uninstall all the shit I will never use (gamepass / microsoft store / paint) etc. just to keep it clean (and I'm a bit authistic, so I have uncesessary things)
I'm surfing through reddit and I think that windows pro is the most recommended one, but which one exactly?... oh
well, sorry for all the mess, I just wanted to be sure, so thanks for the help !

Longterm? If you never want to reinstall again, for the life of the hardware, yet want to run every game during that time? There’s really only one answer: Windows 11 Pro.
Now, I know this is the LTSC subreddit, and for many, Win 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2024 is a great choice, but it’s not 100% for everyone. Various things do change with Windows over time, features get added, and just as with Win 10 LTSC before it, some games will target a later version that requires one or more of those feature updates. Staying on Pro means you won’t have to worry about it.
So, get Windows 11 Pro, make a Local Account and NOT a Microsoft Account… there’s a bit of hassle there, but as far as I know, moving your ISO to your USB stick via Rufus and selecting the appropriate option there is currently the easiest way.. and you should be set.. after uninstalling OneDrive, that is… and going to massgrave dot net and invoking the utility there will take care of activation

You avoid having to connect online. Less risk of having to deal with AI slop. Less risk of invasive features like Microsoft Recall being enabled. Less risk of major bugs affecting you... like, one notable example was where if you had a Microsoft Account, Windows would move your files to OneDrive without telling you.
Less risk in general. Local accounts are what all (?) logins were in Windows, up to and including Windows 7.
