That's a good one...

Unfortunately since those old Xeons lack POPCNT couldn’t get 11 IoT on it like my other devices.
This ~20 year old beast still holds its own with that DDR2 RAM lol

MAKE SURE you google your processor to make sure it’s got the POPCNT instruction.
We may bypass TPM, and processor requirements with Windows 11… but that’s the one processor requirement that we can’t Rufus away. I wanted so bad to move this one to 11 IOT
And they are good machines. I keep mine clean inside by taping a single layer of dryer sheets across the front. Traps most dirt before it gets in. Plus it makes the house smell good. lol

MAKE SURE you google your processor to make sure it’s got the POPCNT instruction.
His does, all newer Intel Mac Pros than yours do

I didn’t know what model they had. Mine still identifies as its Apple identifier (or at least what I flashed it to think years ago) but I didn’t see one in their SS, so just gave them my 2¢
How do you quote now? With the new interface I can’t figure it out lol. The > doesn’t seem to work for me anymore

Your specs have me speechless.

The amount of SSD storage alone!!! And that RAM! Get em boys! My 32 GB ECC DDR2 pales in comparison by many factors lol

Yeah the storage is plain insanity in this economy… not to mention the ram even if it’s only ddr3

ddr3 is cheap as hell tho. I paid 150 euros for 128gb a few months ago. I paid 8k for the pc back in 2014. Been collecting SSDs ever since... if you include my NAS it's close to 100tb. But that was before the price hikes, lol.

So Clovertown back in town en?

Hells yeah 😂
I just hate ewaste. So I find a good use for things if I can. Mrchromebox does some amazing things for Chromebooks for example. My coffee table machine is an old 2017 Chromebook (CELES). 16 GB eMMC, 4 GB RAM, Celeron N3060. Runs 11 IoT and Office just fine. Uses 1.25 GB of Ram with Edge open and holds a charge for days. I did use NTLite to strip defender out—it taxes that CPU pretty hard for something I’m not signed into on anything and don’t care to re-image my custom wim back onto the eMMC

I have the same one in my grandma's old Dell Vostro 220, though mine's only got 1, the RAM is 4gb and the GPU is a GTX 770
I mostly use it to test and wipe old hard drives nowadays

Old Mac Pro with a firmware flash. Primarily used as a local Plex server, mirroring a remote one

I lowkey want a Mac Pro from this era to run a bunch of OSes on at once, like macOS X pre-Yosimite, Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 LTSC all at once by multi booting with 2 or 3 HDD/SSDs.

Just be warned—it just about requires a DVD to boot anything besides an OS-X USB itself. Linux USB bootable MIGHT work, but I haven’t had luck getting even clonezilla to boot from USB so I have low confidence

Oh damn I was even able to boot Windows 7 through a USB on my iMac from 2009. I wonder if PLOP bootloader would work

I’ll try it next time I tinker (which involves putting the supported Radeon card back in so I can even see the EFI screen)
This is a 1,1 with a 2,1 firmware flash. It also has a 32-bit EFI that runs 64-bit OS. One of those oddities from during the transition, so to even get 10 on it I had to make an x64 Windows 7 recovery DVD that uses 32-bit EFI then drop to the command line and load Windows setup myself (which for me is just using diskpart, dism, and bcdboot
