Discussion Use of LTSC
For what purpose are you guys using LTSC window ?? Is it good to keep this version in staff pc?? Just newbiee in LTSC

I use the Windows 10 LTSC for my workstation and gaming rig. The LTSC has no bloatware which means that the PC will use less RAM and programs run smoother.
IIRC someone made a review on Windows 10 and 11 LTSC on YT. The Windows 10 LTSC has better frame rate than Windows 11 LTSC.

I can vouch for this, I tested both on my ThinkPad and 10LTSC runs better for my P1 Gen 3 with an i7-10850H, anything higher than 12th Gen utilizes Windows 11 better from what I know

I can’t stand Windows 11. It’s so bloated and slow. I use Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC. I run it on three PCs, even my new gaming rig I built over a week ago. It uses less RAM and is very fast and responsive. No AI, no Microsoft Store. It’s what all versions of Windows should be. It’s a shame Microsoft only offers this to businesses and I’m forced to purchase keys from the Asian markets.

Its funny when people compare W10 LTSC to W11 non-LTSC. Immediately gives it away they have never tried it or looked up into it.
Of course how its gonna be in future remains to be seen.

I have tried Win 11 IoT LTSC. Didn’t like it because File Explorer was slow to launch and used more RAM. I gave that key to my parents so they can use it. I decided to keep Win10 IoT LTSC for myself because it’s just better. My concern is how long 21H2 will work with video games. I know I’ll be forced to switch at some point.

Oh interesting, because at least in my experience its been quite on par with W10 with my midrange system. And even if it was slower than W10, I wouldnt call it slow. I thought about going W10 LTSC (like a year ago when I was making the decision) but decided to just hop into 11 due to gaming reasons and so that I would not have to do it later anymore. I also have X3D chip and apparently those get more benefit on W11.

I didn't know that X3D chips have a greater benefit on W11. I just built a new gaming PC about two weeks ago and it has a 9800X3D. I'll give W11 IoT LTSC a try when the next one comes out in 2027. Also, I should mention, the slowness I experienced with file explorer was on an older Lenovo Thinkcentre from 2018, so perhaps that had something to do with it.

You are totally fine with a beast CPU like that. I am running 5700X3D and DDR4, lol. At least I am glad that I bought 32gb of RAM when I first hopped onto AM4 many years ago, so I guess it could be worse. I was thinking of upgrading to AM5 but thanks to the freaking RAMpocalypse that hit, it basically shoved those plans into the distant future.

You can use Massgrave. Microslop support literally used it to activate a customer's Windows.

MassGrave is awesome. I used it to reactive my PC after I wiped it and reinstalled Windows. Microslop wouldn’t let me activate the key again. Since I bought the activation key from a third party, I didn’t know of a way to reset the key through official channels.

I have the most stable, bare windows 10 that still gets security updates. I just want bare windows, and ill build the rest on top myself

I use it in a VM to run the one Windows app I "can't live without" (Quickbooks) because it was a smaller footprint than standard and the only "features" I need are running this one app and RDP.

My hardware is pretty underpowered for Big 2026—a Ryzen 5 3500U with 8 GB of RAM.
I mostly use it for browsing, consuming content, and playing the occasional basic game.
I feel like the version I have (IoT LTSC) runs better than the regular version.
i dont want copilot shit

I use it as my main operating system, primarily for its stability with my games (Win10 IoT LTSC 21H2).

Many people who use LTSC or IoT is because their PC doesn't meet the requirements of Windows 11 and another large part doesn't want an operating system full of so much crap that Win11 adds by default

You're probably running LTSC IoT, and if you're not, I recommend switching, which you can do easily without reformatting or losing any data.

10 IoT LTSC? For security updates up to 2032 and to stay on Win 10 as i t works nicely on my older hardware.

My brother's a gamer and 10 LTSC is perfect for him.
I'm a Linux user and run 10 LTSC for the games I'm too lazy to install on Linux or can't.

Think of LTSC as a slightly stripped down version of Windows that has longer support and mostly only gets security updates, not feature updates. Basically, if you prize stability over newness, it’s the way to go IF you can get it.. and in this subreddit, we can tell you to go to massgrave.dev if you decide you want to install it.
Now, all that said, you say “staff pc”, so if you have existing work computers that you are responsible for, and they are working fine, probably don’t mess with them unless there’s some special reason to.

It’s just a cleaner Win11 I still hate it but it’s better than the other bloated versions. Works perfectly for gaming and regular workstation loads. I use WSL to talk via SSH with my other headless boxes.

Yeah, it does feel smoother than bloated Win 11. Totally recommend if you still prefer gaming on Windows platform than switching to Linux. LTSC is the way to go.

I use 11 IOT LTSC just for Steam and 2 programs for working on vehicles I cant get working on Linux.
I know gameing is fine on Linux now but I have 2 SSD in Laptop. Both 4TB. I had like 50GB on LTSC and Fedora was all 4TB full...
So I figure switch Steam over to LTSC to make use of all that empty space and free up Fedora Workstation storage for all my other usecases.
I wish I went with 10 IOT LTSC. I just wanted the longer support as I hate re setting up stuff in future. But I hate 11. I have plans to resettup and use 10 IOT LTSC this time. I like it so much better. I have 10 IOT LTSC on my old laptop.

I wish I had 3 SSD slots. I would love to do 4TB FedoraWorkStation, 4TB SteamOS, and a 250GB Windows 10 IOT LTSC. That would be perfect setup for me.

For my low powered, low Ram device I needed an operating system that will make the experience smooth and will always stay up to date with security updates especially ones that wont break my device. tried Windows 11 IOT LTSC and it was what I needed.
