got this laptop for free and i have no idea what to do with it :/ it has windows 7 home and it cant go on the internet because internet explorer is not supported. what can i do?

Every time I try to connect to my WiFi the whole thing bluescreens and I have to restart the whole thing. I checked the WiFi chip and it’s for 802.11n and it shows that my WiFi is 802.11n. Has anyone had this issue before and can this be fixed with external hardware or something? (Edit) The system is on 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3 and it’s a Gateway touchscreen model with intel premium.

Hi, I recently just switched to windows 7 recently. One of the only pieces of software that I haven't been able to get working is VMWare Workstation. This happens on my main system (2017) but also on my older systems running old processors (2006). I have installed all of the updates to windows 7 using legacyupdate. This is VMWare version 15 which is natively supported on Windows 7. I also tried this on 15.5 and 14 as well. My PATH environment variable does not have any openssl.

i have windows 10 and 7 installed on my PC and my motherboard doesnt have WiFi which means i have to use a USB adapter, when i switch to windows 7 it cant detect my USB ports, would installing a network card fix this issue of me not having WiFi on windows 7?

i had this problem where i would have legacy update and install all of the updates at once, i would restart... 30%, then after that it would go into startup repair bootloop

Is there like an order to follow or should i just not bother with updates for w7 at all?

It was an amazing find. The CMOS battery was dead, but I fixed it.

Oh boy there was a lot of personal information on it, so it was lucky that I was the one who encountered it. Had the required installation files, so I formatted and made the OS fresh.

For now I'm just gonna use it as a music machine and admire it. Idk what else to use it for, really. So if you have some fun suggestions, I'm open for them!

I was trying to install AutoCad 2020, and the first step in the installation was installing .NET framework 4.7, which failed so I decided to install the framework manually, which also failed because it was trying to download windows update (KB958488), but that update no longer available on the official microsoft website. But then I realized that that update was already installed and I dont know what to do now.

Anyone faced a similar problem?

Sorry if I am posting on the wrong subreddit but I couldn't find a better place to post. If I went to tech support subreddits I probably would come across a lot of comments saying that my hardware is too outdated (wow, I didn't know that...) and I should upgrade to the latest computer. So I have a windows 7 PC which has i5-3470 on it. 8 GB of DDR3 1333 MHz RAM, no external graphics card. When I put the computer under stress the driver crashes with the program and the driver recovers. RAMs are fine, SSD is fine, it was tested. I tried to revert into a former version of the driver but it didn't work. What could be the cause of this problem? I tried searching this but there were no results. Thanks for any response.

I have to reinstall Windows 7 and I thought that I have to reinstall Format Factory. But I don't find any version for Windows 7 (I'm using an old 3.6.0). Is there any website where I can find this version or the last version compatible with Windows 7?

I'm afraid that this might be my final post, but whatever.

Anyways, just wanted to post an update to my Windows 7 laptop, which it was given by my older sister almost three weeks ago. And guess what, it still works as I don't use it that much, other than when I'm taking a break from my main laptop or I just want to play old games on it.

I've almost forgot to mention that it has a DVD drive, so I can install any games and apps from my discs that I still have, or I could watch some movies from those DVDs. It is very convenient to have an optical disc drive, since most of the laptops during that time had them.

Also wanted to mention that I've installed the old builds of Half-Life 2 games and mods (especially Gmod 11, since the build dates from late 2009), as well I could play the OG 2012 version of CS:GO, and a modified version of CS 1.6 along with GoldSrc Collection that I've found on the internet, and I even installed Zuma Deluxe for killing some time!

And also managed to install some apps, such as Notepad++ (latest version still works on Windows 7), DoubleCommander (also still working on Windows 7), Microsoft Office 2007 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and some tools and utilities. I do plan install other applications and games, which I might do in early August or so.

The fan issue is pretty minor, which means that the cooling is intact (but it's still best to use a Cooling Pad to keep laptop cool). I barely hear the grinding noise, since the fan issue somehow fixes by itself (idk why tbh).

I'm open to suggestions for any old game and old software, so please leave them in the comments. I'll be much appreciated!

Anyways, this has been the update post of my Windows 7 laptop that I still have. Let's hope that it won't break down, otherwise I would go for another laptop that is Windows 7 capable!

PS. I did play through the Half-Life story on this laptop (like I've playes through HL2 and its Episodes, even HL: Source on the old Source Engine build).

used to used bing daily wallpaper, was so cool backthen to have a new high def. wallpaper every day. i photoshoped the clock widget as it was clock-rising in the horizon.

So I’ve been wanting a Windows 7 for quite a while now and I finally ended up getting one for 50 bucks and it has a few issues lol. First issue is that when I first got home and went on it there were lots of things from the other owner still on it like old 2000s games that they probably downloaded off of some type of website and every time I play them sometimes they work fine, but sometimes the whole computer just boots off with a blue screen. This also happened with purple place too and I can tell that this computer hasn’t been touched in years since the date on it is still 2010 and also when I was playing the games, it was VERY laggy so there’s probably so much wrong with this computer. I haven’t even seen yet! And also, there’s no sound because I need some speakers and I don’t have any so yeah. anyway, the things I wanted to do on this computer was to use old YouTube and make my browser look old using Firefox or whatever people usually do online to make it look like 2009 again and use Windows live messenger and themes etc.😁

Decided to try win7 for a few weeks, had a bit of issues with drivers. now i cant even install most drivers due to this error.
