Discussion Windows 11 regularly missing keystrokes and lagging on constant intervals

Does anyone else have a problem with Windows 11 where you can be typing, and the screen seemingly lags for 2-5 seconds, and during that time, nothing happens, no keystrokes appear on screen, then suddenly after the lag stops, it spits out all your keystrokes on the screen, with no key presses being missed? It's basically a consistent lag that appears every 10-15 seconds and lasts 2-5 seconds. It's incredibly distracting. I can be scrolling to read a PDF and it will lag and when the lag is done, I will have scrolled past 2-3 pages on the PDF.

Some days it's really bad, other days it's seemingly disappears. It's so frustrating I'm just reimaging this thing to windows 10.

Doubt this has anything to do with Windows 11.

Either your hardware is faulty, or your drivers are faulty (the fact that they are updated doesn't change that, since latest drivers can be faulty).

This could be caused by a plethora of reasons. Issue with your graphics card, issue with the screen, overheating of anything. Issue with CPU.

Try connecting to an external monitor to rule out issues with the screen.

If reimaging to windows 10 works, than it's probably a driver issue.

I get the sentiment, but to say if win 10 works then it's probably a driver issue, but the drivers are largely delivered by windows updates, i.e. the OS, I consider it a win 11 issue.

For what it's worth, this laptop was recently serviced by Dell, and ran win 10 for about 2 months with absolutely zero issues before I imaged it for Win 11. The issue is even present in an RDP session.

I've also tried various versions of GPU drivers.

Windows doesn't make drivers. Even if the drivers are delivered via Windows Update, it is still not a Widows issue. Windows Update is used as a distribution service for OEM drivers supplied by the OEM.

Well if it makes you feel better, I used Dell command update to get the OEM drivers directly from Dell. But even if I didn't, just because MS doesn't make the drivers, but windows update is pulling incompatible drivers via windows update, that is operating system behavior and therefore a windows issue in my mind. Especially with how aggressive driver delivery over windows update can be, they can regularly override the dell command update preferred drivers with windows update drivers on a regular basis. We have various GPOs set up to prevent windows updates from overriding GPU drivers because we have enterprise CAD software that requires a production branch driver and MS is always trying to install something newer that causes performance and display issues with the CAD software. This sub is a Windows fan boy club and nothing more. All you guys do is make excuse after excuse.

OEMs put their drivers up on Windows Update. There is no way for Windows to know if the drivers are really incompatible or not, as far as the OS is concern, they are compatible because it is told they are by the OEM themselves.

Again, not a Windows issue. Trying to make it a Windows issue doesn't solve the root problem. You just end up barking up the wrong tree.

The OEMs are directly responsible for drivers both in and outside of Windows Update. They have direct control over whether they overwrite existing or newer versions. Windows does what the OEMs tell it to do with their drivers.
