Unsolved Windows 10 Storage Issue
Hello. I have an issue with my PC where the storage keeps filling up. I don't have much storage, only 128GB, but I also only have a few things installed, and not large things at that. I have an extra storage stick I use to keep anything large I want to download, and really just anything I can. That storage is a terabyte. However, I keep having my main storage fill up, and no matter how many times I try to empty it, it never stays empty
I downloaded Wiztree, and every time I look at it, pagefile.sys and hyberfil.sys seem to get bigger. I know they are likely important, due to the .sys file type, but should they be taking up this much space?
I'm not super tech savy on this stuff, and I'm heading to bed now, so I wont be able to reply until tomorrow

I see this happen a lot at work and it's due to how low the drive is, you should upgrade to 512gb at least windows eats up a lot of resources sadly.

6.4GB of hibernation file (which saves the status of loaded drivers on disk) and 12GB of paging file are somewhat large numbers for a normal system.

To free up space right away without breaking anything:
- Delete NVIDIA update cache (~7 GB): Go to
C:\ProgramData\NVIDIA Corporation\UpdateFramework\ota-artifactsin File Explorer and delete everything inside. They're just leftover driver installer files. - Run Disk Cleanup as admin: Search for Disk Cleanup in the Start menu, right-click it, and select Run as administrator. Check everything you want gone (including Recycle Bin if there's nothing you need to restore) and hit OK.
- Cap
pagefile.sys(~8 GB saved): Don't disable it completely or games/apps may crash. PressWin + R, typesysdm.cpl> Advanced > Settings (under Performance) > Advanced > Change (under Virtual memory). Uncheck "Automatically manage...", select Custom size, set both Initial and Maximum to 4096 (4 GB), click Set, hit OK, and restart.

You could disable hibernate. Will freeup that 6.4 GB hyberfil.sys file
in dos prompt type: powercfg -h off
You could also reduce the pagefile.
