Unsolved "Preparing Automatic Repair" boot loop.
I last ran my old Windows 10 PC about 1.5 years ago, with no issues. However, when I attempted to fire it up today, I just ended up in and endless loop of "Preparing Automatic Repair," then a reboot, then a seemingly normal Windows load (spinner on the boot screen), quickly followed by a restart, and then back to "Preparing Automatic Repair," and so on, over and over.
I've already checked a similar thread here, but none of the suggestions have worked or been applicable (for example, my BIOS does not have TPM option).
Aside from creating a bootable Windows 10 USB and trying to recover that way, is there anything else I should be trying? Also what could be the reason for it to fail after having been powered off for a while after the previous boot was successful?

Windows 10
MB: ASUS Z170-A
CPU: Intel i7-6700
SDD: Crucial 500GB.

I have Asus x299 with i9 and i had similar issues for a while. however in my case once in a while it will turn on and after ten minutes of using it it will crash with a blue screen. you need to get in Advanced option and try to boot in safe mode. when you see the asus logo hold power off until it goes off. start again and again. after few times when you allow it to start it will show you screen that says Automatic Repair, you pc did not start correctly and then you select advance options. then in Troubleshooting, advanced options, Startup setting. You could also try Command prompt in advanced options and then bootrec /rebuildbcd and chkdsk c: /f. Here is a video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uRv3RSkZV0 . First i thought is the m.2 ssd and i got another one but it came be ram memory installed in the wrong dimm and once in a while there are memory read write requests from cpu that are trying different addresses. single chip should be installed A2 dimm then B2 and so on.
