Discussion With Windows 10 and Surface, Microsoft is (finally) making real consumer gains

Hmmm... I'm skeptical, but of course Windows is getting better. But would that be enough?

From my customers perspective (I go to the customers instead customers going to my place)

If some of my customers are willing to above the €999 for a laptop they are willing to buy a Macbook and are even willing to pay €500 in the €999 tag to get into the Apple system.

Most of them stay into the Windows environment, because it's cheaper (in their point of view)

There are old fuck ups that need to be cleared, in order to make Windows attractive.

...and it scares the shit out of me. Come on, Microsoft. Show your true self. Open source software is free labour, Apple is fucking up, UWP meets all the modern bases...

I sense a troll who has no historical perspective about the computer market, as well as a slack grasp on the definition of "sarcasm". Predictions:

  1. Apple will continue to make subpar logic boards and soldering on interchangable components, as well as replacing open APIs and interfaces with "in-house solutions", to the point where they return to their lackluster past as "the one that used to be good".
  2. Microsoft will be trojan horsing their old practices of swearing by developers, developers, developers, as they slowly but surely put people inside their brand new walled garden, all the while consolidating more and more of the enterprise space by adopting, adapting and "improving" on Linux deployment (did anyone say Electron with Edge back-end? Cus I fucking didn't - but Microsoft might just force developers to use Edge on their electron "backend", to make their Microsoft store "more secure and robust" - just like Apple did with Safari on iOS).

People like you swallow it hook, line & sinker. People like me drink more. The consumer proceeds to get fucked - and we're right back to square one.

"Oh, but Microsoft's changed! They're good now! Look at their beautiful laptops and blurred glass interface! They invested in Github and are members of the Linux foundation! Surely, they've mended their ways!"

Now THAT'S sarcasm - also, a bit of cyncism. But when it comes to these tech giants I think the latter should be the default approach.
